Economy winning.

Its a slow bleed from here.

The gap between the real money and everyone is getting larger by the day. If spending doesn't decrease for some of these families, there will be nothing to pass down to the next generation. That coped with 20 somethings and 30 somethings receiving financial help from their parents has depleted the average persons 401K to some degree.

All reports indicate record travel. Your experience is an exception to the rule.

Ill vouch with OP.

There was far less people than I've ever seen at the beach this year.

Nobody goes on vacation anymore, it’s too crowded.

This. If anything, it seems like more people on vacation this year. One difference I am noticing regarding the beach is there seems to be a whole lot more “girls’ trips” this year as opposed to entire families. The full families I’ve seen down there are almost exclusively doing it in conjunction with some travel ball World Series of the Entire Universe.

We went to Johnson Beach on the 4th, and while we did have to wait in a line for about 30 min to get in, once we got in, we easily found a parking spot at the last parking lot. Since the parking lot only has around 30-40 spots if I had to guess, the beach wasn't crowded at all. It was great.

There were plenty of people in Perdido Key and Pensacola Beach, but I suppose it did seem less crowded than expected.

I wanna do Naxos or Mykonos next
I have a business associate with a house on Mykonos that he spends two weeks per year there.

He said if he ain't there, the place is unlocked and mine.

I gotta get over there.

It wasn't an exact amount. I was just pointing out all the added fees VRBO and AirBnB have been tacking on lately.
We rented a place in Gulf Shores last year, and had to pay $100 to park for a weekend!!

(not my receipt, but similar)

my wife, daughter and M-I-L were staying West of PCB in the week before the 4th. Said nobody was there. She could drive front beach road with minimal traffic into PC.

That’s odd

We went trumps last year and had to sleep in the car for 3 days.

No vacancies at the inn.

Example of all the “girls’ trips” I mentioned. You know what I haven’t seen at all? A “boys’ trip”.

My extended family is in St. Pete/Tampa and said that it's not quite as busy outside of the 4th as it usually is. That said, it was packed for the 4th and through yesterday with mostly inland Florida folks who come over to the beach for the 4th.

Not my experience. Was in Olympic National Park in western Washington and there was a huge crowd everywhere we went.
