It would be a nice distribution center for amazon.

Malls in general are already on the path to becoming obsolete. Probably won't be any at all in 10-15 years.

Highly populated cities are safe. Places like BR are doomed.

Then again, black Friday and Christmas is enough to keep a mall afloat for while

Last Christmas I was shopping with my kids at mall of LA. That's what cortana looked like every weekend, and Christmas you could hardly find a place to park.

If you are of a certain age, this is sad. BR was not always a shitehole, believe it or not. Florida Blvd was nice, there was no Bluebonnet, Chi-Chi's was slammed and the chimp at Fun Fair Park was plotting how to derail the Wild Mouse with nothing more than a cigarette lighter and some arm strength.

as a New Orleans native... I feel the same can be said about the East and the (now long gone) Plaza Mall

What a coincidence! I was just thinking "they are going to make it into another 'downtown library'".

It's going to be the new parish prison.

If that happens a lot of current shoppers will likely still frequent the place

why don't they round up all the homeless, beggars, and bums (I know, redundant) and put them in there.

I heard they are turning it into a Popeyes chicken sandwich factory.

How nobody ever died riding the Wild Mouse is one of life's great mysteries.

I loved riding that green roller coaster (called the Galaxy I think?) but the Wild Mouse scared the frick out of me.

I've ridden rollercoasters all over the place, and to this day, the Wild Mouse is the scariest one I've ever been on. The first time I rode it, I was crying by the time it was over (I was about 10, maybe 1981?) Rode it a bunch more over the years, all the while I was going to Astroworld and the like, and I was always amazed how the biggest, scariest ride in the place didn't begin to terrify me like the Mouse. With the Wild Mouse, that feeling you were about to go off the edge just ate me a new a-hole.

Found out several years ago that there were Wild Mice all over the country. It was a design that a lot of smaller parks used.

Went to Acadiana Mall for the first time in years. About 1/3 of the stores were vacant. All that’s left are kiosks run by middle eastern guys with the hard sell and culcha...

I wonder who would pay millions for that property unless it was to convert it to some sort of warehouse?

That's $2.50 a square foot - quite a deal no matter where it's located

Cortana Mall
I recall when it was announced to be built. The BR State Fair was set up there before the Mall was built iirc.
