The problem is these subhumanized views of black and brown people have been held by white people for hundreds of years. The last "40 years" and the more modern plights of black people doesn't explain why the same biases and attitudes from centuries ago persist to today.

That's something white people need to ask themselves. Why haven't our views on certain groups evolved as quickly as the laws that govern us have?

Respectability politics goes back to the times of slaves. The same banter persisted "do x, y, z and whites will respect you and stop
Being racist towards you." The colored person will do x, y, z, a, b, and c and will still be treated poorly, humiliated, doubted, etc.

At some point, white people are going to have to expect more from their own, emotionally.

Yeah, white people asking blacks to stop committing almost half of the violent crimes in this country then blaming it on white people is a horrible request.

You make sweeping allegations about white people that are unfair. I have never once judged someone because of their color. I judge people on the type of person they are, white, black, brown, or purple. But, I am still cast into this group of hateful white people who need to check themselves. I'm Native American. My family barely survived the Trail of Tears. We have been mistreated as well. As have Jewish people. And Asian people. Black people are not the only ones who deal with bias and prejudice. If it's unfair for me to throw you in a prejudged category of people simply because you are black, then stop doing it to people simply because they are white.
