if the creepiest thing a person has ever told you while you're dressed up as a comic book character is "are you married?", then not only are you lucky, you're a fricking super pussy
To paraphrase Lee Harris it is unfortunate that Francis Fukuyama was only half-right when he proclaimed "The End of History and the Last Man".
The "last man" is italicized for a reason. Jon Krakauer addressed it in his ode to Pat Tillman, and, incorrectly I think, assesses that Fukuyama was off base. The issue with Krakauer's view is that a Pat Tillman is a pretty rare commodity.
Fukuyama: Liberal democracies produce men composed entirely of desire and reason, clever at finding new ways to satisfy a host of petty wants through the calculation of long-term self-interest…. It is not an accident that people in democratic societies are preoccupied by material gain and live in an economic world devoted to the satisfaction of the myriad small needs of the body…. The last man at the end of history knows better than to risk his life for a cause, because he recognizes that history was full of pointless battles in which men fought over whether they should be Christian or Muslim, Catholic or Protestant, German or French. The loyalties that drove men to desperate acts of courage and sacrifice were proven by subsequent history to be silly prejudices. Men with modern educations were content to sit at home, congratulating themselves on their broadmindedness and lack of fanaticism.

A lot of these chicks have smiles/smirks goin' on, which makes me question how offended they truly are.
Also, cracked has really gone down the shitter. It was never brilliant or anything, but now it just seems like a bunch of white knight wimps talking about social issues and shite.

Always wanted to go to ComicCon. Maybe this year.

The girls that go to these weirdo fests like comic con fall into 3 categories: 1. Chicks that are average or below and can't really get attention in every day life, so they go to these things that're 95% dudes, put on a slutty costume, and pretend they're hot 2. female neckbeards, those girls that look like haybales 3. Models in slutty costumes that're getting paid to advertise mountain dew and doritos and stuff
Exactly. The hot cosplay girls are hired. The rest are generally average-at-best looking chicks with decent bodies or large tits. They use their cleavage to attract attention and be worshipped by geeks.

Meh. I can understand being irritated if you dressed like your favorite character and it happened to be revealing. If you dress like a character because it's revealing, and then bitch that people hit on you... I don't know what to say.

that's part of the recent feminism rants, though
after that psycho killed those people and blamed girls on it, it was a popular meme on twitter during the #YesAllWomen stuff
the new meme is basically, "i shouldn't have to worry about men hitting on me because of my choices in attire"
and if you respond to them and explain how utterly stupid that is, and more importantly, how ANTI-SCIENCE that is (fricking dullards), they will call you a defender of rapists. because saying guys are visually-stimulated beings, via evolution, is the same thing as saying 'she deserved to be raped b/c of her clothing', obviously

Sexual harassment at Comic-Con in the spotlight
Amid the costumes and fantasy of this weekend's Comic-Con convention, a group of young women drew widespread attention to a very real issue — allegations of sexual harassment at the annual comic book convention.
Geeks for CONsent, founded by three women from Philadelphia, gathered nearly 2,600 signatures on an online petition supporting a formal anti-harassment policy at Comic-Con.
Conventioneers told Geeks for CONsent they'd been groped, followed and unwillingly photographed during the four-day festival.
...
Costuming, or cosplay, is a big part of the popular convention, with male and female fans dressing as their favorite characters, regardless of gender. A man might wear a Wonder Woman outfit, and a woman could dress as Wolverine. Keyhan and her colleagues — all in costume — carried signs and passed out temporary tattoos during the convention that read, "Cosplay does not equal consent."

AND THEY UNWILLINGLY WERE PHOTOGRAPHED?
