Good deal.

Nonetheless , that stretch that those baws did was not happening anytime soon.

To suggest otherwise is disingenuous.

Lastly, for a supposedly cash strapped FEMA to (allegedly) plunk some cheese down to install fencing would not be surprising.

No shite, people would go insane if government started seizing private land for a temporary road. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

Wasn’t this temporary road being used to deliver emergency supplies, or is that incorrect?

I mean, should the fire department be able to go on your property to put out a fire?

To continue with that analogy, it would be like the fire department showing up only to stop me from putting out the fire myself.

Unless I’m missing something from the info provided (if it’s true), then FEMA and friends should be applying their limited resources elsewhere- no?

I've lived in West Virginia and they are some good people but I don't think they qualify as baw.

What part of WV did you live in?

Boone County, Lincoln County, Mingo County, Putnam County, essentially all of south west WV below Huntington and Charleston definitely fits in the "baw" category. Eastern part of the state and the panhandle, not so much. Also - the rope that was used to hang John Brown was on display at Hawks Nest until very recently. So, yeah, a good chunk of that state is far from Yankee.

I have no idea who has been using this road, but I doubt fire trucks have been on it. It really isn't much of a road. Its probably a mudpit in parts.

My biggest issue is the whole "look at us, we did it faster than government" when state government has literally been working on rebuilding the actual, usable road this whole time. And we all know DOT isn't just going to build a dirt path next to the actual river. That's ridiculous.

UPDATE: The post below about the road that West Virginia coal miners came and cut between Bat Cave and Chimney Rock. Well it was sealed off by @FEMA by a metal gate and a sign

Remember when Ronald Reagan said the scariest words are “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”? Thix sorta thing is exactly what he was talking about.
