I loaded the receipt on the 9th along with a letter requesting reimbursement. I gave details about length of time without power and the dangerous heat during that time.
This may be why I wasn't reimbursed because it did not say anywhere to include a letter with explanation.

I uploaded my receipt. It was rejected

They rejected a picture of my driver's license. I'm not sure what rejected even means at this point.

I don’t believe a letter is needed. If it gets rejected then an appeal letter might be needed.

Did the money hit your account yet for the generator reimbursement? If so how much? I uploaded mine on 9/8 still says pending.

Same thing happened to me. Seems like the process has gotten quicker though.

- Just applied Sun. night (9/19)
- immediately got the rejection letter saying "you are not being referred to the Individuals and Households Program (IHP)"
- didn't do any updates or upload any documents
- Just got another letter on 9/21 saying "You have been APPROVED for $500.00 for Critical Needs Assistance".

So I have a MISC pending. What should I do now?

I was out of electricity til Saturday. Just bought a bunch of gas for an old generator.

Anyone purchased a generator really recently and got it reimbursed?

FEMA site states generator purchased up to 9/25/21.

Person I filled my application with over the phone filled some things out wrong. They did not select “critical need” so I am not getting the $500. I asked them to update/change after catching their error and they said they can’t change it.

So it is not about critical need but about critical checkboxes, red tape, and governmental bureaucracy.

I believe my status was initially changed to pending, but in the letter that was uploaded said it was approved/eligible.

Now the status has updated from pending to eligible.

I'm not sure if we are applying for a different type of assistance, but I never had to upload anything.

Guess it depends on how the application is filled out.
I can't remember exactly what all I selected to get it approved, but I think it mostly depends on the Parish selected, evacuated or not, & I do remember selecting that I spent money for gas/supplies/clothes/etc.

My generator receipt was finally accepted and I have a second miscellaneous line showing "pending."

I guess we will see if they reimburse it or not.

Mine still says pending for the generator receipt. Also I got denied from my insurance on my fridge and freezer food I lost before I could get a generator in place. Anyone got a declination letter yet from your insurance on that and submitted to FEMA?

Thanks

The letter I got said you needed to provide some sort of reason for the chainsaw. Pretty much needed to be blocked in your house.

That said, I dont have any idea. I havent been approved for shite. So im obviously wrong about everything.

Lol how can they expect you to go buy a chainsaw if you're blocked in your house?

I was denied even though I left my home and had damage. I don't know if they'll come back and tell me I'm eligible, but it certainly doesn't make sense how they're determining who gets the funds.

Same boat here. But I decided to call up the horse's mouth to see what they had say.

It's a computer that's deciding who gets the $500 and who doesn't. It is 100% random, and that's straight from the FEMA staff member I spoke with.

If you don't get it, you probably don't even have "Miscellaneous Items" listed on your FEMA page.
