Because it won’t be optional. Hospitals will force it on us like the flu shot. Get the shot by a certain date or get terminated.

But three scientific problems have arisen. First, the virus is evolving much faster than the vaccines can be updated. Second, vaccines have hard-wired our immune systems to respond to the original Wuhan strain, so we churn out fewer antibodies that neutralize variants targeted by updated vaccines. Third, antibodies rapidly wane after a few months.

I’ve always felt like we had a very tiny window in early 2020 where vaccines could have possibly driven SARS-COV2 into extinction, but that window probably closed sometimes around the delta variant.

At this point they’re probably pointless unless you are immunocompromised or otherwise at a high risk of death to COVID.

In early 2020? I think you mean 2021.

This is what I have been saying since the very beginning, protect those who are vulnerable and let others proceed as normal.

As long as it’s only a recommendation and they are not trying to force that shite on us or our children.

I seem to recall a certain Coronavirus vaccine that they said they would never mandate for anyone to take. Look how that turned out.

Will it be a real vaccine or just a shot filled with a bunch of nefarious shite?

Actually meant late 2020…I think that was the first appearance of delta right?

EDIT: Honestly, early 2020 is probably right because after that, the original variant was so widespread that you wouldn’t have been able to distribute enough vaccines before it started mutating.

I'm sorry. The President of the United States told me that if I get the vaccine I would not get covid. So why would I need to get one annually?

The ridicule is not at the suggestion that the "vaccine" should be optional, similar to the flu shot. It is that for TWO YEARS there mere suggestion of such approach was met with immediate and public scorn by politicians, the media, many in the medical profession, AND millions of our fellow Americans. None of whom have ANY remorse whatsoever for treating others with a differing opinion like pariahs. Some lost their businesses and livelihoods because of the groupthink refusal to accept contrasting arguments pertaining to the need and efficacy of the covid shot. Others were forced to get something injected into their body they really didn't want because of the threat of the loss of their livelihood. Society has suffered greatly in immeasurable ways, and continues to suffer, because there was no tolerance whatsoever for an individual's decision to not get the shot.

So forgive me if I don't subscribe to the mindset of "Maybe it's not as effective and necessary as we screamed it was. Oh well. No big deal. Just get it if you want". The powers that be altered society for the worse for at least one generation, probably more, ALL in the name of political power and virtue signaling. So unless and until those with the loudest voices that pushed this on the world come out with public an unequivocal statement that it was flat our fricking wrong to do so I don't really celebrate the reaching a conclusion (shots are optional) that should have been the default from the beginning.

This is what 90% of the rational people on this board have been saying for almost 2 years now. Develop a customized continuity of care plan with these genetic therapy shots for the elderly and vulnerable population, and leave the rest of us the fvck alone to consult with our own doctors about what choice we make for our own goddamn self and our own goddamn bodies. And especially leave the healthy kids out of it with all these political workarounds to get these shots on schools' vax schedules.

I think you're correct, with the actual wave of Delta popping everyone right after the July 4th break.

Eta: 7/4/21 I mean - Delta wave

As of Aug '22, in Louisiana, 62% of the population has received one dose and 54% have received the two doses to be considered fully vaccinated. The other 46% post on TD.

In lieu of the JnJ one of course, I am fascinated by this sub segment of the population that only received 1 dose of the mRNA vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna). What made them say "fvck it" after only receiving one dose. Was it because they got sick AF for days after getting that first round of juice? Did they all of a sudden wake up and start to question things with their God given common sense? Fascinating sub group of people to say the least.

I haven’t had a flu shot since 2001 so I’ll be passing on this annual vaccine too

The drug regulator also proposed that people getting vaccinated for the first time receive vaccines that target both Omicron and the original strain of the coronavirus.
