The NRA and many Republican Congressmen opposed a bill a couple weeks ago that would deny people on the no-fly list from buying guns.

Interesting huh?

Sure a determined person could obtain guns illegally. I can't comprehend why people are adamantly opposed to simple gun control measures such as closing the gun show loophole or not allowing terror suspects from purchasing weapons. It boggles my mind.

Was he on the no fly list? Didn't he fly to Saudi Arabia to get his wife?

No and he was not one of the 900 open investigations into ISIS terrorists in the USA

I do not believe so. It may not be relevant in this case but it seems like a rather sensical bill.

not really. this is the new liberal talking point

the problem with this standard is that you don't get due process to get put on that list. why don't we outlaw the practice of islam for anyone on the list, too? would you support that?

well the "gun show loophole" doesn't exist, but assuming it did, tell me which "mass shooting" (using the expanded definitions progressives and the media have adopted to create the perception of a crisis) would have been stopped had this loophole been closed

Because crimes like this don't happen in places with stricter gun laws right? Oh wait... California says hello.

pretty much the standard theme of the emotional-irrational reactions of the left to these incidents

this is basically the message: we have to do SOMETHING. it may not have anything to do with these events, but it's SOMETHING

Because they don't work. CA has the strictest gun laws in the country. Their 30 round magazines were illegal but guess what? They still had and used them.

the gun show loophole

There is no "gun show loophole". Firearms sold from FFL dealers at gun shows are required to have the same background check as any other FFL sale. Private face to face sales in-state are not required to have a background check.

What do you mean the loophole doesn't exist?

What policies should be considered if any to minimize these occurrences?

Really? Tell that to the gun show vendor who sold me an AK-47 after handing him 4 $100 bills. No paperwork.

A few booths down is where I bought the 100rd drum magazine. Real pain in the arse to load, though.

You bought a used gun pal, sorry. The show had nothing to do with it.
