That's a bet you would lose by 80 lbs, but thanks for playing.

If you want to go to Aruba, I stayed at this awesome Airbnb off the beaten path.

The hotels & the scene downtown is meh. Very crowded & cluttered with fat tourists, and honestly the public beaches were pretty but not all that impressive when compared to our private beach & lagoon right outside our bungalow.

Cruised out of San Juan for 7 days: Barbados, St Lucia, St Thomas, Tortola and St Martin for $1400 including airfare. 2 people.

$1600 to spend in those places is a frick-ton of hookers and blow.

Only when cruise ships are in port, other than that, Oranjestad(downtown) is light in people traffic. Now cars is different story, but its a small island, there will be traffic during work days and the like.

we stayed in Savaneta, much more local feel. We made groceries and ate in our little bungalow during the day, sandwiches and such cause we were in and out back and forth to the beach. We ate out at night, pizza one night, finer dining 2 other nights, about what you would pay for a nice meal in New Orleans. $120 or so + wine for 2 people. The pricing in this area was very fair, we didnt spend a lot of money at all. Our goal was to relax, so we beach hopped and explored the island. We didnt think our private beach would be as nice as it was, but we ended up being glued to it. We didnt do any excursions or spend money on that stuff, but it is available.

This is where we stayed We booked through AirBnb though. Apartment 2. It had AC, cable, full kitchen/living area, and a nice bed king sized bed.

we rented a car, so when we set out to explore all the beaches, we were able to see the whole island. Over 5 days we drove from end to end. In Orajestad, the capital, it is very touristy. They have big all inclusive resorts. The traffic was bad around here, so we didnt explore much outside of the beaches. But it is very Americanized. AMerican fast food chains, places like Chilis, and a good bit of American shopping. The cruise ships stop in this area, so this is why they cater to that crowd. The prices are prob inline with US. I would not stay in Orajestad. No way no how. Check the place i linked above. Honestly the best value of any place ive stayed in my life.
