It is. Most people flock to more developed parks. N. Cascades is more for backpackers and climbers. It still has some glaciers, though most are pretty small.

Zion National Park is stunning. As is Bryce Canyon.

been to glacier and teton ... teton is better, imo ... didn't seem to be as many people, the peaks are taller, and jackson hole is a cool little village with a nice hostel ...

Arches is a step below that, then Yellowstone and Grand Canyon.

Yeah, I prefer Bryce Canyon to the Grand Canyon as well. Planning on hitting Sequoia and Yosemite this summer.

Great Smokies (I have to say this one cause it's almost like a second home to me, hardly another place I would rather be than fly fishing my favorite streams in this park)
Haven't seen enough of Yellowstone yet, need to get back there.

I agree. Maybe the reason is that there is a fairly limited time to visit and be able to hike. But the scenery is amazing. Mt. Shuksun from Picture Lake is just a classic view. We were there in the second half of July and a lot of the trails were barely open. But the crowds were minimal and that surprised me for a place that close to Seattle.
I'll vote for Lassen as the #2 underrated. Possibly the same reason, they have a short season. But after the hordes at Tahoe and Yosemite, Lassen is heaven.

More than 100 movies (mostly westerns) have been filmed in the Alabama hills with their rock formations.
Sounds awesome. I would be coming from the west side. I had never been as interested in death valley as other national parks, but I see it on a lot of the lists as one of the best parks.

Wrangell-St Elias followed by Denali. In the lower 48, I like Grand Teton for sentimental reasons. We went there several times on family vacations when I was growing up.
Great Basin is a new one that's not well known and practically undeveloped. Just watch out for crazy gun toting ranchers.
