I venture to say 50%+ of all welfare grant $ is abused or stolen outright. I'll give you an example. I've sort of done business with some national catering companies who provide meals for schools/daycares/etc. They are supposed to be paid by the schools/daycares from federal grants. Well this may be a shock, but the principals of these schools keep the money for themselves or use it for other things and stiff the caterer. I know of dozens of these "charter" and "magnet" schools in New Orleans that pop up and are only open a year or two. They steal all of the grant $ and shut down. Then reopen the following year under a different school name, often in the exact same location, and do it all over again. Criminals stealing from the poorest of the poor under the guise of education.

To bring u up to speed, Brett hired a texas lawyer that brought Motion to Dismiss for failure to pursue most of the money or other responsible party’s like the former Governor. So the state through the State auditor, who was the former Governors campaign manager upped the game by now going after him for the whole 5 million that was given to USM for a volleyball court, which is chicken shite, but blow back for raising the fact that 50 million or whatever actual number is still unaccounted for and was stolen by other politicians

Jon Gilbert was a really bad AD. I strongly suspect that everyone else involved is trying to pin as much of this as possible on Gilbert, and frankly I hope they succeed.
Jeff Hammond sucked, too, but Gilbert absolutely sucked what little life was left right out of USM football.

What’s crazy is that the governor fired the previous Attorney for the state for asking questions and trying to subpoena information related to this exact issue, the USM volleyball courts. He immediately alleged that state was playing politics.
Everyone at this point knows the former Governor should be indicted but will he?

Welfare money is generally wasted by those receiving the money so I'm not too bent out of shape over that. But that damn volleyball facility took out some good baseball parking spots.
