Getting allowed to take your own prescription meds in jail is tough. I fought with them for a week and a half before they allowed me to take my seizure meds. Had someone bring my prescription, had my doctor call, but they still wouldn't accept it. Just tried to get me to take another seizure med that I knew already didn't work (switching also gives me seizures). Ended up having two full-on seizures and a bunch of smaller ones, and not a single thing got done about it for a week and a half. It was ridiculous.
The docotrs and nurses in jails would be best suited working out of a bar in Mexico.

Why are people some having a problem with the fact he as put in jail in the first place. He broke the law and a fine was imposed. He either choose not to pay it or couldn't pay it. He more than likely was given multiple opportunities to pay the fine. After so many chance a judge will issue a warrant. when picked up and brought before the judge the judge will give that person a chance to pay fine again, and if they can't ( in this case ) a 30 day sentenced is imposed and the fine thrown out.

He absolutely should have gone to jail. It shouldn't have been a death sentence though.

I have zero issue with him being thrown in jail for not paying his fine. My issue is what happened to him after he was thrown in jail.

sorry I'm not saying you darth I know that.

He obviously had no intention of ever paying that fine. I have zero problem with him being put in jail.
Unless when he gets to jail, they just let him die off like a rabid animal. If that's the case, they should have just shot him on sight. Seriously, would have been more humane.

You obviously come from a trash family who abuses drugs. We should throw you all in jail to starve so we can keep your family from further burdening society.
Definitely...should I just turn myself in or stay on the lam

Gotcha.
I do find it very disturbing that so many here have such a caviler attitude with this situation. I don't understand how anyone can claim to love this country and it's constitution on the one hand but on the other not give a damn when that very constitution and the rights it guarantees are totally shite upon.

Yet you think that this kid brought his death on himself by using drugs?

So, I'll ask again.... Have you called your family up there and congratulated them on the death of your cousin and let them know how glad you are she's dead?

yea its a terrible situation. Will have to pay attention to this story and see what the County has to say when it tells its side of the story. would love to hear why this man was never given medical attention

But I do agree at some point the staff HAS TO take it upon themselves to see if this individual needs medical attention.
Yeah, I'd say the seizures would have been about that time.

Well to be honest, considering they had jailers watching him literally 24 hours a day for 11 days while he went though an unimaginable hell, I'm really not sure what they could say that would come close to a valid excuse.
I mean, it's not like he was in some regular cell where a guard might walk by every few hours and peek in for a second. They literally had eyes on him via CC TV the entire time. They watched every moment of what this guy went though. And all they did for 11 days was sit there and watch. Yeah, there's no valid excuse... not even close.

I had a good friend die after being arrested for DUI. He told them he was having chest pains and they just ignored him. They found him later dead in his cell from a heart attack. His wife got a lot of money out of it but it doesn't bring his kids father back.

His medication, according to the lawsuit was listed on his intake forms.

The lawsuit names Wickersham, 16 deputies, Correct Care Solutions, which provides prison healthcare, and several mental health workers as those the Stojcevski family holds responsible for the man’s death.
The lawsuit says Stojcevski was on Xanax, and other medications including a daily dose of 60 mg of methadone, which is generally used for recovering heroin addicts. The medication was listed on his intake forms, the suit says.
“He had a potential for withdrawal,” the suit says.
He was moved between a jail cell and a mental health unit several times, including a time on June 17 when it was noted he was hallucinating and talking to himself.
On June 21, the suit says, Stojcevski asked if his medication was forthcoming and was told “medication has not been ordered at this time.”

Yeh well I just had a 34 yr old cousin die Tues night IN ALASKA and the circumstances surrounding her death may have been drugs or an overdose
Hate to hear this. There are a lot of programs in AK for people if they are willing to take that step.
I've known quite a few addicts and alcoholics and being the party type is probably the lesser category these folks fall into. Most are self medicating due to some emotional trauma.
I think there's something worth saving in everyone. Getting them clean takes care of a lot of the societal issues, putting them in prison doesn't do that. It exacerbates the issue, in most cases.

Could you imagine if people said the same shite when something bad happens to police officers?
Well, he brought it on himself. Lots of steps led to his demise and it all started with him taking the job...
