This is actually how Darwin meant for our society to function. Our society usually saves the weak now and we don't allow nature to take its course. This is a perfect example of the weak being weeded out of society, I'm ok with this.
It's a very rare person who's never weak and doesn't need help at some point in his life. Maybe you're that rare person. But probably not. Perhaps you will get weeded out at that time.

[quote]Its time to end the war on drugs and start giving addicts the rehabilitation that they need[/quote/]
So are you saying we should force all addicts into rehab? Who is going to take care of this mass amount of people, whom are usually violent when forced away from their drugs?

Completely agree. More money and resources are spent (wasted) on the lowest-IQ, least-working, laziest, weakest, "sick"est, most-disabled, drug-addicted part of the population than on any other. And it's that same population that reproduces at the highest rate!

I don't see this as the same. To use this analogy you would have to believe the jail staff intentionally didn't give him the meds wanting to kill him
They do this shite on a daily basis.

Guy cant pay $772 so the solution is to throw him in jail for a month? On what retarded planet does that make sense?
So. . . No punishment at all then? Or maybe we should pay him for his offenses?

Should a diabetic get insulin in jail?

They are pretty frickin bad about not providing meds at your city/parish jails. Had similar situation for a cooky relative who will go batshit crazy without meds.
Case in Shreveport where a woman was off her psych medicine at Caddo Correctional and she stabbed her eye out with a pencil.
The suit was dismissed because of qualified immunity.

A diabetic who's been a worthless bum his whole life, who commits a crime that warrants jail time? I really don't care one way or the other TBH.
If we stopped providing the necessities of life (food, shelter, meds, etc.) for bums and criminals, I bet there'd be a lot fewer bums, and a lot fewer criminals in the world.

Right. But damnit, he learned his lesson! It was costly to the State, but oh well...

He's been a drug-addicted, unemployed burden to society since his teenage years.

No one deserves to die in this manner. And the state does share in the responsibility. However, there is some personal responsibility as well. The $772 is neither here nor there. The judge ordered him to pay the money or go to jail. Over the years, he chose not to pay the money and jail became the default choice.
While I have compassion for most people and I don't think he deserved to die in the manner he did, he does deserve the lion's share of the blame of what happened to him.

No you're wrong. I don't want my taxes going to treat or support him and I dgaf if he dies from his addiction. Doesn't mean someone should be able to kill him
And I don't want my taxes going to pay incompetents like you but there's nothing I can do about it.

So you admit then you have zero experience taking care of these people since you're allowed to stand in a room and talk to people.
Meaning I've seen them and have been involved with their treatment. Also have first hand knowledge and I know exactly what happens when people cannot take their medications. I've seen it.
If you believe people deserve to die if they don't fit your narrow criteria, then there is no help for you.
No one deserves to die like that.

Is denying someone meds that going cold turkey will cause them to die killing them? The guy didn't have a choice to take his meds or not.
Like I said earlier, I have been in jail and denied meds. That denial caused me to have seizures. Guards were notified, I saw the nurse, and was sent back to general population after getting checked out. Had a bunch of small seizures, and eventually another full one. I had no choice whether or not to take my prescribed meds, even though my doctor called the jail. Them not giving me my prescribed meds caused me to have seizures.
Exact same thing happened here, but the guy was being watched almost 24/7 and died. They should be charged with at minimum negligent homicide, and be sued until the jail has no money to keep running, and the contracted medical company goes out of business
