familiar with building materials? Specifically insulation sheets?

Looking for sturdy insulation type material in 4’x8’ sheets. 3/4” up to about 1.5” thick.
I’m not using this for its intended purpose. I’m just having trouble finding this product in local lumber yards or building stores.
I need lightweight and yet pretty sturdy. Must be significantly lighter than 3/4”plywood.

Houston foam and plastics have it and for varying densities. Great prices too

You need to look for Atlas ACIII roofing insulation.
Comes in 1', 1.5" and 2" 4x8 sheets. I sell it to guys making ice chests, fish boxes and cabins on shrimp boats.

I have used 2.0 cf density from Houston foam and plastics. Great stuff! If wanting a particular size. They sell a wide variety and can get basically any size of foam you want. There foam sections are 4'x4'x20' long and cut whatever you need. But they do have the 4x8 sheets with different thicknesses and densities and backing on both sides.
For what I wanted the only other place that could offer was a place in Shreveport but cost 30% more.

Would you trust it to not crack easily in the wind? There won’t be a ton of surface area, but it has to stand up to the wind. Let’s assume a 5’ long strip that’s about 4” wide... would you stick that out in the wind if the support were centered? Or do you think it would crack? I understand a strong enough wind will indeed crack it, just under average to slightly above average breezes, would you trust it?

I went to Dufrene’s. They don’t have anything close to what i need, other than gluing two 3/8” sheets of luan back to back and then cutting out my shapes. That would be lighter than plywood for sure, but I’d like it to be lighter if possible. This option will be my last resort.

Go to a roofing materials house and get ISO insulation board. Different thicknesses and will be available in 4x8 and 4x4 sheets. Should run 10-15 bones a sheet

If you put a layer of resin and fiberglass on it, yes it would handle the wind. It is a polyurethane based foam so the resin doesn't dissolve it.
ETA: Even without a coating it should handle a breeze. It comes with a backing on both sides.

Even better! I gotta learn to do some fiberglass work anyway, soon. Don’t need perfection at all. Just something i can sand relatively smooth and then paint.
