One thing that’s always fairly prevalent in these threads is that people with the least experience (and no medical degree) tend to be the loudest when comes to bitching about a medication that someone else is taking.

I was just thinking that.

Oh in that case...

If I was prescribed drugs I didn’t need, how many other children took drugs they didn’t need? How many of them had their brain chemistry permanently altered by those prescriptions? How many became dependent on those drugs and still have to take them into adulthood?

A doctor prescribed you something you didn't need. So the disorder it was prescribed for is fake.

Can't argue with that. Air tight logic.

Parents are getting their kids “diagnosed” with ADD/ADHD so they can get a SSI check for their kids.......

You can't just claim ADD and get benefits. The Social Security office will reject it in an instant.

You got data to back that up? Do you realize how hard it is to get on SSI? The SS administration does a microscopic background check on your entire life and reject the majority of applications out right. The next step is to get a lawyer, but I doubt lawyers are going to take cases based solely on ADHD.

You’re only partially right, but people do use ADD in conjunction with other things to quality for benefits, not necessarily SSD.

Yeah, I have data just sitting on my desk.

I have a particular relative with 3 kids. All of them “have” ADD/ADHD and they all get SSI checks. The mom doesn’t do shite and lives like a queen.

Whole family knows she’s gaming the system and talks shite about her lazy arse. (As we should)

How I know, they just “have” ADD/ADHD and nothing else? I’ve been in the ER with one of them and their mom. Had to help her go over medical records with the MD.

I’d suggest you quit your day job and go monopolize the world of psychiatry considering your advanced understanding of the mind and pharmacology.

What does a doctor get out of giving adderall scripts? It’s generic so there’s no kickbacks, not that kickbacks are even legal anymore

It’s a lot of extra paperwork and that’s why a lot of pcps have stopped treating add

There are certainly kids out there that have learning disabilities and need Adderall, Vyvanse, or Something of the like, but due to the way its diagnosed, its one of those things that is easily abused. There are probably more people taking ADHD meds that don’t need it than those who do.

One of the biggest things I despise are people picking up adderall and ambien prescriptions that are in their 30’s and 40’s. No shite you can’t sleep when you take addy three times a day

Adderall is not generic. Its available in a generic, but you’d be surprised. Some insurance companies actually prefer the Brand

Not sure if you’re trolling or just a Scientology-level idiot, but it’s most certainly real.

I’ve talked at length about it on the OT. Some of us really do need the medication to more effectively function - it is like night and day for me. Is it over diagnosed? You bet, but that doesn’t change things for those who really have it.

hey snowflake maybe you shouldn't be sitting at a computer all day if you eat too much sugar and can't sit still

I have add, bp1 and bpd

If it were that easy to get disability, I’d qualify and be on it because it is a struggle to get through each work day with my brain

However, it’s not so I’m in school working on getting a degree in something that I think will be easier for me to do every day
