mean, to be honest, this is the sort of thing I'd expect to see in Akry, Mississippi or La, not Saudi Arabia...

Saudi Arabia is just barely behind the US in obesity rates. Quite a few middle eastern countries are as well

I wonder if the local news media had an article praising how Saudi engineering designed the ride before the first ride.
Pray for the Indians or Pakistanis that will get the blame for this accident.

They are of the belief those deserts become less shitty when you prop a bunch of expensive buildings in the middle of it.

The ride was called “360,” but a more apt name may have been, “‘Bout 350.”

When I was a teenager, when the fair came into town I would go and catch some work with the carnie people. Help put rides together, run the kiddie coaster, run the arcade, break down rides at the end of the week, whatever was needed. It didn't pay much but it was cash under the table beer money for teenage me. All of these fair rides that people think are unsafe doesn't really tell the half of it. I haven't set foot on a fair ride since then. And carnies are really, really odd folks.

Could have been much much worse but there were probably still some broken ankles and backs, and crushed tailbones. That thing hit the ground hard
