Gasoline poured on the wood?

I'm thinking that fire kid likely killed himself. You burn a high enough percentage of your skin and you don't recover.
I'm thinking not likely, because he was exposed to the flame for only a short period and if it was alcohol or something similar it wouldn't burn as hot as gas.
My question is what in the hell was he doing? It looked like his intent was to jump in the water.

Buddy of mine did something similar, but worse one summer day when he decided to light his burn pile.
He poured WAY too much gasoline on the pile then it took him about 10 seconds to finally attempt to light it and by then the fumes had accumulated where he was standing and he got the hell burned out of him. He was quick to jump back and roll but still had mostly 2nd degree burns on a lot of his exposed skin.

Real men know to use diesel.

Yep, he learned a very valuable, and painful lesson that day.
Guess he watched too many movies where the arsonist walks through a building pouring gas all over the place and then lights a match and races to get outside the building before they are burned up. That's from a scene with Sean Penn and Gary Oldman in the film "State of Grace".

Love it. A woman weighing about a buck 10 going to try to stop a minivan that probably weighs 1.5 tons----and already in motion to boot.

You can put as much gas as you want, just make a fuse line trail on the ground and light it from 15 ft away after you move the gas can even further back.

You really don't have a clue just how fast gas fumes can occupy an area without your knowledge and a lit match will set off those fumes in a violent explosion.
The scene I was referring to from the movie was about how Hollywood fails to show things how they can actually happen. The two actors are shown pouring gasoline as they walk deeper into the building then one of the decides to light the fire and run out the building before thay get burned. Can't, and won't happen in real life.

Back in the days when we all had 50 gallon drums in our back yard to burn trash, my 12 year old brother had used gasoline to wash lawn mower motor parts in. he disposed of it in the trash can, then realized that may be dangerous if someone tries to burn trash. so he put the lid on it, got matches, opened it a crack and lit one, dropped it in, nothing. after about 3 tries, he decides he needs to see where the match goes, so he slides the lid back an inch, peers in and drops a match directly into the pool of gasoline. all his eyelashes and eyebrows were gone for a long time due to the flame thrower he created, and his forehead got a little bigger because of the missing hair.

My Dad would pour gasoline on a pile of charcoal sitting in our horizontal BBQ pit (made from a steel horizontal barrel), Stand back about 8 ft, and throw a lit match at it. He was backtracking as he threw the match. It Was like a bomb going off and the flames were > 10ft high. I always enjoyed watching. I think he enjoyed seeing how big of an explosion he could make.

Who in the hell gets out of a running vehicle without putting in park or at least applying the parking brake?
