F22 can fly on one engine.

They likely can, but losing it on takeoff probably didn't give the pilot time to get the other engine lined out for flight.

I'm not a pilot, but I'd ASSuME that losing an engine right at take off would F things up.

I do wonder how close the pilot was to pulling the "quickly egress this bitch" handle.

Sounds like there is a one nervous engine mechanic on base right now.

It is called a V1 cut. Every airline pilot has to get evaluated each year on losing an engine at “go” speed,or V1, and continue a safe takeoff with remaining engine(s).

Now, I'm no expert, and in all honesty have never even flown

But this seems just flat out fricking stupid. Oh hey you lost an engine. It's cool though. Proceed with your takeoff

the jet may have retracted its gear too early during takeoff

Bigger engines would have cured this

Those pictures don't look like Anchorage in April, or any other month, to me.

I saw a pair of them going straight out one day and they pulled up hard and gave it some gas and went what looked like straight up making a shitload of noise for a good little while before leveling out way the hell up there. It was the coolest thing I've ever seen a plane do and I'm so jealous of the guys who get to fly these rigs.
