A lot of FCCs are coming down right now.
It does look like a lot more people are driving around this week than last week, so demand is probably getting a little better.

Not possible. You have to make some % of gasoline to do something with if you’re running a crude distillation unit.

It is possible to run a slate that makes none, possible in a 'anything is theoretically possible' kind of way.
You won't really be running a raw crude in the front though.

I stand corrected. You could run pure diesel through an atmos tower and make essentially zero gasoline

This guy gets it. Only reason we are running ours is bc we are sending feedstock to chem plant that’s making $$$$$

The entire country is on lockdown. Nobody is moving. It doesn't take long to build up a glut of product when the demand plummeted. All US refineries are cutting back gasoline production and focusing on diesel.
On top of the low demand, the ramp up in production by Saudi and Russia has the price at near $20/barrel. Can't make profit with crude that low. It will force some shale cracking companies out of business. Exactly what Russia and Saudi wants.
This economy will be a disaster on the other side of this outbreak.

I'm not saying it is a solid idea, but it would work. Run some diesel and 10API shite. Work out the details of how fricked up your equipment will be down the road.

I didn't think you could distill it further than what it is in an A tower. You can reboil/reflux and further remove any entrapped hydrocarbons.
Now, you would produce straight run gasoline no matter what, but, instead of blending it to high octane, it could be sold off as feedstock for an ethylene cracker or similar unit.

Last week I believe Gas demand was down 30% Jet 60% and diesel down on 18%. No idea where it is now but it can’t be better. Gonna be a long road.

I promise you there is no unplanned maintenance going on, unless it is critical to get unit back going again. All refineries are trying to save money in the foreseeable future.

Oh it’s possible. Some units like hydro crackers will just convert feed whatever the market dictates. Some units have cut to minimum rates and just treating diesel and basically giving it a free ride through the process.

We sold gas across our docks for just over 40 cents a gallon this week. Let that sink in.
