This.^^^
My price range was loaded new Corvette, slightly equipped Cayman S, or 3-4 yr. old 911. I’ve been a Porsche fan since I was a kid. If $120K was in my comfort zone, it’s a 911 without a second thought. Even a ZR1 Vette doesn’t get a second glance.

Legitimate concern with a new platform. Always something crops up that is out of the realm of what seems possible.
Does the engine have to be pulled for a spark plug change?
I did hear in an interview online with one of the Corvette engineers that basic maintenance including spark plugs changes does not require removing the engine.

It won't be a rare car either.
There may be a few dealers who play the ADM game initially, but GM is gonna build a ton of 'em, so just sit tight for a bit.

I’m in the market. Would you rather have this or a jacked up Sierra Denali? I can’t decide between the 2. My current ride is a 2010 Chevy Malibu and let’s just say I have enough to buy either in cash

Another factor that lead to just buying a ‘19 Grand Sport was that they still hadn’t worked out all the kinks with the C7 Z06 overheating issues, A8 transmission issues (though I bought manual), etc. No way in hell was I buying a first year C8 even if I loved the appearance.

Well, that sucks. I thought they had that pretty much whipped.
The bane of a supercharged car is heatsoak.

depends on the person. Is rowing through the gears and heel toeing more fun than setting the quickest time?
I might prefer a manual on a nice curvy mountain road, but give me the DCT on the track every time
You're a 911 guy? I think Porsche had to bring back the Manual or scrap it's plans to discontinue it because of outraged 911 "purists"? I know it doesn't make sense wanting to stick with outdated/ inferior technology,but....

Have you owned several Corvettes?

Yea they re committed to manuals after outrage over the most of their line up slated to be pdk only.
I drive my manual turbo daily. It's great, but I never get the "manual or die/I have no control in an auto" feeling.
Manual is fun but some people act like you might as well uber if you want a non-manual car. Like yea I feel so connected/engaged and have that control I NEED for my 5 mile traffic filled commute to work.
Just my opinion, but if you need a stick to feel in control or engaged with the car, the issue isn't the transmission.

Manuals are dead.
People need to get over it.

Oh no. Honestly I never really " got it" when it came to Corvettes & most definitely could NOT afford them anyway( not new at least) . Finally in the market now & the C8 is the 1st one that's peaked my curiosity. I know it's mostly emotional to want the most outdated technology, but .....it Would be nice if Vette owners could convince GM to keep the manual like Porsche owners did .
GMs Chief Engineer called manuals a " dying business". Says even the hardcore Z06 manual sales dropped to 15% after offering the Automatics . Im not their customer & I understand them dropping it due to low demand/ costs.

I have a friend on another board who has a white 71 she calls "Sugar".
She could probably out drive everyone posting in this thread.

Not yet. Manuals are glorious. Outside of a dual clutch setup, and only some of those, it’s still the best.

Just about everybody is using DCTs.

It's absolutely emotional ,but car purschases of this type are emotional/ irrational. I' m sure a 370z, Mustang GT,etc....& other cars can be just as exciting on the street/ track than a Porsche/ Vette costing 2 or 3 times more . But some Porsche owners wouldn't be caught in a Mustang / 370z .
I'm open to the DCT & I'm mostly hearing positive feedback from those who have owned both. But I also understand that there are more practical , budget friendly options that have manual transmissions still if I have reservations.

The DCT is the single most important thing that allows the C8 495/470 @ 3300 lbs to go 0-60 in less than 3.0 secs.
The tremendous advances in DCTs, along with manufacturer collaboration, are the present, and the future.

Have you owned a manual car before?
