quote:
Beyonica Holt, whose residence is located roughly 15 miles from the factory, said she 'thought we were at war' and that 'I was going to die.' 'I was standing in my bedroom. It shook the whole house. I thought it was going to blow out my windows - it didn't, but that's how big it was,' she told The Tennessean.
Now that is a powerful blast.

Thought I'll add this...

This rocked my house this morning. I ran outside thinking a tree fell on the house.

I'm ignorant here, what do they build there that would blow up that well? I was picturing a small arms facility?
I was in this building in 2015. At that time there was enough explosives in the building to cause twice the damage shown.

Graduated from Hickman County HS. I know a couple of the first responder types that are/were immediately working the scene.
I always get the news down there fairly quick… Not a peep yet.
That tells me it’s bad. Tight-knit communities all through Hickman/Humphreys. Tough day.

I would have watched the video, but it had shitty music playing over it.

For comparison, they said you could hear the blast from Hiroshima 15 miles away.

Yep,they got up that morning, put on their work clothes, ate breakfast, drove to work, and before sunset they were dead.

Press conference just concluded.
-The ATF rep said they have a specialized team going through the site now making it safe for recovery efforts to come. They should have it safe for the ATF National Response team to begin its investigation this afternoon.
-The sheriff said there were people they know who left the area earlier in the morning, prior to the blast, but they know how many people were in the building at the time and they are confident in saying they are all deceased (of course that isn't a surprise).
-Sheriff said they can through other means, shift records and such, identify who was in the building. He said the TBI will be on scene with its rapid DNA unit to help in identification, but they will be slow rolling the release of that information to make sure they get it right.
-ATF guy said it was still a dangerous scene with explosives that they can no longer gauge the reaction or stability of. So, it has been a thorough approach in securing the scene and making it safe for further responders.
