Explain to me what "Transgender" actually means?

I don't get it. Are these guys who are planning to become women and visa versa? Or is it just one gender saying they aren't "really" what they are.

I'm a huge proponent of "live and let live" and when a consenting adult wants to make a decision to affect their life, then good for them. It doesn't bother me.
That said, this recent cowering to a group of people that might make up 1% of the population is truly puzzling to me.

I'm always confused by the terminology.
Is a transgender woman someone born a male that is now female or the other way around.

Are they under the impression that doctors flip a coin when marking sex on the birth certificate?
Why not at least be honest about the definition? Transgender is a mental deviation which causes people to identify as a gender different than their biological sex.

Yeah I sort of agree here. I am very tolerant but they seem sort of selfish to me. They must understand that someone with a dick going into a womans bathroom will make all of the women in there feel uncomfortable. Are we not supposed to think about the women with vaginas feelings?
