Can we see some literature on all this 80/20 talk and percentiles?

Part of the premise on why this is bad for society is that mate-less men aren’t reproducing and aren’t being productive members of society, because they don’t have a wife and kids to support.

Your comments may be an issue, but is a different one.

Saying people are left out of the dating world (and thus sex) and saying women are marrying them for financial support are completely different complaints with different results. And both of those things have been happening for hundreds of years.

You and Wiki seem bitter.

Why do you think this movement arose?

Because men are too afraid to act like men anymore. That’s on them and whomever raised them. I know plenty baws who are neither particularly good looking nor rich, but have confidence and act like men and seem to be ok. Granted, that is anecdotal and not a conclusive study.

What does scruffy think is the cause?

To be fair, no one met the pig woman and had sex.

but men will frick that

just look at the monstrosities that become the best option at 3am when the bar closes

this board loses track of what the non-upper/middle class is like. go out to rural walmarts and look at all the 300+ lb women with decent guys (for the class). that dude is still likely dealing with some other guy's ignored frick trophy, too

they're not having their own kids with these women in most cases

also this is just the provider class. there is a huge chunk of the population who doesn't get there (without scraping th bottom)

i'm in a long-term relationship with a pretty, college-educated woman who doesn't have kids. i'm also only outside of the top-level dating range due to personal choices that can be reversed in 6-12 mos. this stuff doesn't apply to me

After internet dating for a while, I concluded that only 5% of the girls were actually dateable. The others I spoke to were either just for fun, or just for sex. Most weren't even worth talking to, and that's something that a desperate guy won't notice

The best dates I have ever had were women I met in real life. That's really the best way to meet someone.

I’ve been married a long time to my college girlfriend so this shite seems weird to me.

Also I know a lot of weird mofos, in various socio-economic levels, various ages, etc. All have wives or girlfriends.

Also virtually every single woman I know is itching to get married.

This harem concept where women are sharing a man is also difficult to believe.

Wapo article about the gender imbalance on campus (that i referenced earlier)

quote:

Women frequently wind up being treated as sex objects, and men are more inclined to exercise the option to delay marriage and play the field. As I note in my book, today’s uneven gender ratios “add up to sexual nirvana for heterosexual men, but for heterosexual women — especially those who put a high priority on getting married and having children in wedlock — they represent a demographic time bomb.”

quote:

Of course, these lopsided numbers might not matter if young, college-educated women become more willing to date — and, eventually, marry — across socioeconomic lines. But according to separate research by University of Pennsylvania economist Jeremy Greenwood and by UCLA sociologists Christine Schwartz and Robert Mare, educational intermarriage is less common today than at any point over the past half century.

there is a lot out there about the hookup culture (Esp on campus where gender ratios are forever skewed) and it may not specifically state "Women share men", that's ultimately what the outcome is.

As a 39 YO man, the perceived value that a woman would bring to marriage is just so much lower than it would have been a decade ago

the sad part is that you can still change your mind

a 39 year old female still lying to herself in the same manner will have infinitely fewer options every year moving forward

This references the data a good bit

While interesting, the sample size is comically small. 27 women on all of tinder hardly represents the entire US population.

I think you could also make the argument, that women on Tinder may be much more selective on an app than they would be in real life.

There have also been studies (in Canada I believe) that show that while young male sexlessness may be rising, it's NOT because Chad is hoarding all the stacies for himself. The data showed that the top 20% of never married sexually active young men were having about the same amount of sex with about the same amount of partners for decades.

No, I’m referencing women I know of all ages who range from young, never been married to older divorcees. They all seem to eventually get married, so either they go after this elusive 10-percenter and succeed, or they settle.
