Well I think they did say it was a double so like a teacher and a cop combined salary. Depends if they have kids or not.

150K without kids is comfortable

Depends where you live. Family of 4 should live comfortably on 150k a year in the South.

Understatement Of the Year

I can tell you don’t have a wife. I told her the other day if I made a million dollars a year she’d find a way to spend $999,000.

ETA: luckily neither of us like debt, so we only have a modest car note, and our mortgage, but frick

Barter is normal for American citizens for most of this countries history. If you think only folks in the Middle East barter you need to get out more.

Look I get that you're old as dirt, but I can assure you that the VAST majority of Americans do not barter in their normal purchases (ie not cars, houses, custom goods).

You kept the receipt right?

FIFY

Although, chances are good she would find a way to spend more than just the million.

To keep the math simple

100 month rent x 12 months = 1,200

Paying year in advance = 1,000

(keep in mind back then usury laws set caps for interest at 6%)

That meant saving about 18% vs 1% to 3% could have gotten at the bank for a savings account.

Not laying blame but I do think the younger generations addiction to media and gaming is just as bad or worse than booze and drugs. Serious drop off in social skills form the tech addicts.

Do you realize that a lot of these people playing games are doing so while communicating with other people?

Nope, one of my siblings had kids late in life and died. I was instrumental in raising them so saw their friends firsthand. Limbaugh is a putz who makes 20 million a year stirring the pot of the weak minded looking for excuses over solutions.

Nice try tho.

You do realize 90% of human communication is non verbal

Poor communication skills are no substitute for good ones.
