A former Miss Kentucky and ex-Kanawha County middle school teacher accused of sending nude pictures to a 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of possession of material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct.

Ramsey BethAnn Bearse entered her plea in Kanawha County Circuit Court before Judge Duke Bloom. She faces a possible sentence of up to two years in prison when she is sentenced 10 a.m. Jan. 17

Bearse was arrested in December 2018 and charged with four counts of sending obscene material to a minor. She was suspended from her teaching position at Andrew Jackson Middle School while the investigation was ongoing. A Kanawha County school system spokesperson Tuesday said she is no longer an employee there. Authorities said Bearse sent pictures to a former student on the social media app Snapchat.

Bearse said it all started innocently as she kept in touch on Snapchat with her former students, asking them how school was going and if they enjoyed their summer.

The former teacher said the young man she ended up sending the photos to “asked a lot of questions and I crossed the line and shared too much information of what I was going through at the time.”

“Basically, that my husband was working all the time and was too distracted and overwhelmed with work to pay attention to me. In addition, since I moved to West Virginia, I felt like I was completely alone. None of my family lives here, and I didn’t have any friends,” she said.
