Yes I’m basically having a breakdown right now. Had to take days off of work and just lay in bed all day. Total meltdown. Just don’t care anymore.

I understand, but what would your dad think? Would he rather be a burden to you or rather be a burden to someone else? I guess it depends on how far gone he is, mentally.

I’m in senior living. Go educate yourself on Independent/Assisted Living. Not everything is a nursing home. The longer you hold him in an environment not suited to help him thrive, the quicker he’ll decline. You owe it to him and yourself to at least look around.

How close are you to Kenner?

I have no energy and pretty much just sleep when I am not working and taking care of my elderly Dad. I am trying to watch the game and should be excited that we are kicking arse but I don’t really care either way

Yeah, I buy about 8 very different strains of weed and smoke them till I find something I enjoy about life.

Repeat cycle.

They're not all chambers of horrors. Some are nice, w/helpful staffs.

But that doesn't matter as much as the people in them knowing they are still cared about. Even a luxury facility would be bad if you're alone in the world.

That's why if a relative must go to such a place, you need to stay in contact, w/ visits, phone calls, emails, etc...

She claims the senior services in the area are "too scary"

I’m generalizing but I am weary of most of these services, private caregivers, and the like. You have to realize she may genuinely feel that way and you have to meet her where she is mentally because she may not be capable of where you are. Social engagement in AL does some really awesome things for people just like your mom.

Caring.com and APlaceForMom are solid referral sources that will advise you to the best places to check out.

Go check out Inspired Living. I walked through just after they opened and it’s awesome. Executive Director is a really good guy I’ve known for years and he knows what he’s doing.
