I feel bad for people who need to be motivated by religion to do the right thing. I’m motivated by basic human decency and compassion for my fellow man, not some selfish motivation that if I do wrong I’ll be punished in the after life.
So, you're saying that you decide what is right, what is decent and what is good, and you act accordingly? I think I read somewhere that this is very common today.

Everybody does that to some extent. We all decide which societal norms to follow and which to discard. Nobody follows them to the letter.

Do sociopaths even have the capacity to believe in God or recognize their sins?
There's a lot of people, normal and sociopaths, that don't believe in God.
And sociopaths know right from wrong. They just may do wrong anyway if it's in service of their goals. They aren't inhibited by guilt.

They probably just think about themselves and what can make them happy tomorrow.

Psychopaths and sociopaths have emotions. They just don't have remorse or shame.

There is emotion, but it is almost never reciprocal and it doesn’t seem to match what other people feel in any given situation. It makes relationships difficult. You have to say things to people that you don’t mean or really understand or things get complicated.

I have no guilt or shame. I know when I do wrong in a dispassionate way, but I've never felt bad about anything I've done.
And I've done some reprehensible shite.
Doesn't mean I don't value my friends and family. I would do anything for them. And because i don't feel shame or guilt, anything means anything.

If you don't have a natural sense of right and wrong with consequencial guilt without religion then you might be a sociopath

Some seek power. Which is scary.

This. There is a distinction between sociopaths and psychopaths. I would consider a serial murderer/rapist a psychopath. You could possible encounter sociopaths daily.
And one can write prescriptions, while the other can't!
