A friend of mine was in a local Nola band in the 80's. The band was called The Press. He was lead singer and said they had some unknowns from Ireland open for them once in the early 80's at some local club like Jimmy's or Tips(I dont remember which one). That band was U2. He still has the venue poster advertising the show

Saw Prince and Morris Day and The Time at the Saenger theater back in 1982 before they hit it main stream. Probably one of only 25 or 50 whites guys in the place. Prince was OK, The Time were great.

Incubus (right after Make Yourself)
I thought S.C.I.E.N.C.E. pretty much made them famous well before Make Yourself.

Talking to my brother-in-law Friday night, he said some shitty little band from California opened up for the band he was going to see (can't remember who he said) at the lake Charles civic center. They boo'd them off stage. It was the Ramones.

Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Storyville Music Hall in 1986. It was insane.

I was at that show. Gish and Ten were already released by that point.

Ramones were from NYC, not CA.
Ole Man Rivers must have had some bands play there before hitting it big.

This was before they had a record deal, 12 stones lead singer would sit in my parking lot playing the guitar waiting for his girlfriend to get off of work. Also watched them jam at Lanier music in Mandeville way before record deal. Also would like to add,not sure if they were ever famous.

Limp Bizkit at some bar in Jacksonville.
They opened for some band that had a song on the radio. They finished with Faith and the place went nuts. The placed emptied out for the "headliner."

I saw Metallica play the Stone in SF in 1983. Dave Mustaine played lead guitar.

Ever seen a musician perform before they were famous?

He had already hit it big, but saw Trent Reznor at Jimmy's in New Orleans around 95 or 96. I couldn't hear for 3 days afterwards.

Maroon 5 opened up for Cowboy Mouth at the Varsity in 2003. I remember thinking the lead singer had a very high pitched voice but they sounded great. Adam Levine ended up standing next to me while Cowboy Mouth played.
