Ever hear a loud bang in your sleep and jolt awake?

Exploding Head Syndrome
Just experienced this. Falling asleep then thought I heard a door slam. But it's all in my head. I have experienced it before and had no clue what it was. Anyone else dealt with this before?

Yep. In college someone broke my door down and the sound it made still haunts me. They broke it down then left soon after for some reason I am thankful for. But the sound of that still haunts me

I live in Memphis so loud bangs at night are pretty much a common thing.

Two buddies and I lived in a apt at Watergrove back in 2000 for about 2 years. Place was full of milfs, plus we were only a few miles from the purple church. Ahhhh the memories.

Yeah, didn't know it was a thing. Honestly didn't know anyone else ever did it and thought I was just imagining the noise...which I am, but I mean I thought I was imagining, imagining.

This is why you should sleep with your loaded shotgun at your side. Chambered, safety off, finger on trigger. You never know when the loud noise will be for real.

Not an explosion but sometimes, just as I'm about to fall asleep, I'll hear what sounds like a child giggling. Seems real in the moment.

No....I mean yes. I don't know...Does it always sound the same?
Just imagine if you were deaf and this happened...

I have it just about every night, usually just one time as I am falling asleep. It bothered me somewhat until I heard about the syndrome. Now I can fall asleep easily after a noise knowing what caused it.

A couple weeks ago my buddies girlfriend called me at 4am in a panic asking if I could come over otw the work (I go to work @ 4:30am) because she heard someone break a window downstairs and my buddy was out of town. She thought someone broke into the house. I went over there, pistol in tow, and nothing was touched, no windows broken, nothing. I've made fun of her ever since.
I just sent her this link and said "I think I found your boogeyman"
