Awesome story. Different times, and different people. Wish things were still like that in a since. Nowadays all the people who beat the hell out of the Hell's Angels would have been arrested, and put in jail.

Sounds like Evel got whipped and the crowd bailed him out and then he was scared like a bitch for a while after.

So knievel got mud checked by the HA, not the other way around.

He was such an arrogant prick, I'm surprised he didn't get his arse kicked more often

Now that's a blast from the past. My brother had that EK toy motorcycle.

Never heard this story as much as I watched Knievel jump when I was a kid. Interesting.

Evel carried a cane that was filled with booze. It had like a lion head deal that unscrewed.

I think if I ever have to carry a cane, I'll get one of those bad boys.

We would make ramps and see how many boxes we could jump on the sidewalk. Stitches or broken bones were a badge of honor.

I can still hear the sound that thing would make.

And I'm still a tiny bit bitter that I never had the bicycle.
