Come hang out with me at fairgrounds sometime. Less screaming children, more places to sit, a turf course that's not a putting green so it actually plays like a turf course, and less (but not none... This is louisiana) race fixing

I was going to drive over for the turf sprint just to see power alert but didn't once he scratched. I saved myself a drive

Husband came home really upset one of his first nights there a few years ago with his first story of a fixed race. I think that nonsense is what has really turned me off.

No quarter horse, no care

The wife (and I) invite her clients to Evangeline a couple of times a year. Rent a banquet room or tables upstairs and pay for everything. Always have a good time. Yes, general admin is trashy, but there isn't a track in the country where gen admin isn't trashy. I think Evangeline does a good job and the people for the most part are ok. Delta is tragic and FG would be fine if it was in a less sketchy hood.
Didn't personally stay in the hotel but never heard a bad thing about it.

They have a very short quarter horse meet. Actually, you should come hang out on champions day. You'll get the best of both breeds

I should put a disclaimer in there. Best of both breeds as far as la breds are concerned

Evangeline is okay.
La Downs is laughably awful though.

I'd like to know about the amenities ratings from those who have been and overall experience if I were going to make a day or 2 out of it.

If you're looking to make a decent trip, go to Louisiana Downs, or even better, make a trip up to Oaklawn in Arkansas.

EvD is good for a little gambling fix, but thats about it. You gotta know someone to win there.
