Ethanol is a completely retarded product for a country that is rich in O&G. We would be much better off growing food in than a shitty fake gas that is bad for engines.

But Sen. Grassly et al need to keep their constituents happy to remain in power. And the dumb hippies think it’s better for the environment.

So ethanol will outlive all of us.

I would advise against it unless you have replaced every soft part in the fuel system.

I don't think we ever will. How did "dino oil" get under the gulf of mexico?

The same way that layers of tropical fossils got under antartica. The gulf of America hasn't always been full of water.. not to mention that large bodies of water deposit more dense layers of organics than dry land.

The core of the earth isn't producing crude oil, coal or any other fossil fuels. The tiny amount of organics contained under the crust are being fed into the mantle via subduction zones. Crude oil isn't just from "Dino bones". It's all the organics, animal and plants throughout earth's history.

I live 1200 feet above current sea level in arkansas and I can dig up layers of coal with embedded marine shells in the ditch by my house. The earth/climate has changed a lot over the eons.

Ethanol isn't nearly as bad as you Bubbas make it out to be.

Just buy the non ethanol gas if you dont want it. Pretty simple.

But, that would ruin the claim that it's a finite resource!

If Trump wants a big win, he’d cut ethanol in gas with an EO.

This would not be a win, fuel prices would go up immediately. Have you seen the price of non ethanol fuel? The average person doesn’t care if there’s ethanol in the fuel, especially since it means cheaper fuel.

Gas stations sell this.

I have like a country stop that sells ethanol free and all the new circle ks they put up have ethanol free.

Now I’m disappointed.

I was hoping for a positive outlook on an all ethanol engine. But here are some problems from Google.

quote:

Cold Starting: Pure ethanol can have issues with cold starting, as it doesn't burn as quickly as gasoline.

Fuel Separation: Ethanol is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air, which can cause fuel separation if not managed properly.
.

Can we go back to possibly feeding the world but actually getting paid for it this time?

Huskers, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you don't run a lot of marine equipment in Nebraska. What do I win?

It's not really dinosaurs. We just reference that way. All sorts of carbon based flora and fauna under heat and compression for a millenia

Ethanol-blended gasoline isn’t actually cheaper. It costs more to produce than pure gasoline. The reason it costs less at the pump is A) because of government subsidies for ethanol and B) because ethanol-free gas has become a niche product. There’s also the fact that ethanol-free gas has higher energy content (resulting in higher fuel efficiency).

That may be true, I don’t know what goes into producing gasoline with ethanol. But it still results in a significant increase in gasoline prices which would definitely be a negative against Trump or whoever signed that bill.

According to the google machine, there’s a 3% loss of economy with 10% ethanol in gasoline. Any loss of economy seems dumb when we are doing stupid stuff like auto stop/start to decrease emissions but the cost increase would be significantly higher than 3% if they stopped producing fuel the way they are right now.
