Not enough in my opinion.

Dallas Morning News

quote:

You’re not getting out of jail today,” Salvant told Couch, who wore a red jump suit, a shaggy hair cut and beard into the courtroom. But he said he’d give both sides the opportunity to argue their cases in the weeks to come.

“Nothing I do is in stone,” Salvant said, “so I might reconsider.”

For now, Salvant ruled that Couch would be jailed for 180 days on each of the four counts of intoxication manslaughter he faces.

Nothing is said of his mom, who he fled to Mexico with. Is she getting charged? I can't remember.

They need to put a picture of that kid's face in the dictionary as a definition of unlikeable.

Upon his release, the 19-year-old can’t drive, take drugs or consume alcohol. He will also need to seek employment and submit proof of it to his probation officer, Salvant said.

Well he'll be back in jail.

He really is pure trash. Has one of the most punchable faces in America. They should parade him around all of the State Fair's across America. Charge $5 a ticket (proceeds go to the victims) to punch the kid square in the nose.

Understatement of the year I'd say!

Original charges were as a juvenile and he can't be re-tried on those.

People asking for him to get 20 years don't understand this.

But now he will be on adult probation once he gets out, and any violation, which will occur without a doubt, will result in serious jail time. To me, he is a punk & a worthless human being. However, who is far worse is that arse wipe judge who handed down the original sentence.

The original judge definitely dropped the ball with that "affluenza" bullshite defense. He was transferred into the adult justice system where is probation will be: no drugs or alcohol, no driving a vehicle. He'll violate the probation and he'll have to fulfill a longer sentence.

that wasn't his defense, that was a comment made by a psychologist during the sentencing hearing

Right, but he was on juvenile probation before.

It was completely unnecessary for them to "flee to Mexico". He was not facing hard and long jail time for being photographed at a party with solo cups in the background while on juvenile probation.

They made it 100x worse on themselves and now he's in the big boy system and is gonna meet some big boys in the shower.

And that psychologist testified in defense of Couch citing he was the product of Affluenza.

and later said he regretted using that term and should have said spoiled brat, or something similar, just saying that the defense did not use affluenza as a strategy, also, as ridiculous as the sentence was for the crime, it has been explained by by the court system that issued it as being consistent with juvenile punishments given, they say they look as a juvenile as being able to be rehabilitated, and what affect long term sentencing will have on the juvenile, I live in the area so we hear shite on that every day, this is just what I've read and heard about it

I would have got more time if I was caught with an ounce of crack, but this guy can kill 4 people and only get 2 years. So that is what 6 months per person.

In a sense his life is ruined . Not that I care . After probation he basically has to live like the perfect human being. He will be IN jail while basically free. Not being able to drive is the biggest punishment. What a dumbass. I have a feeling he will get iced in prison.
