I took the free monitoring. May not even use that.

Got mine.
And if they steal my info from this, then that’s another settlement down the line. Hell yeah that’s a whole income stream!

I think I'd prefer the free credit monitoring from the 3 bureaus.
I was impacted....sweet 125 coming my way. I'm already being monitored for free from when the government opm was hacked by the chinese...so I'm taking my 125.

You can only get cash payment if you're already paying for credit monitoring service. Otherwise you get free credit monitoring (from the company that had the breach)
False. You choose either free credit monitoring or cash with a promise you will use a credit monitoring service for at least 6 months.

My credit cards have credit monitoring...
At least 2 of them do.
Does that not count? I assumed that counted. Anyways, that is just a liability thing on their end. They want to make sure they can't get hit with another lawsuit.

doesn't taking the 'pay off' amount to giving up your rights to contest this in the future?
in other words; you just took the $100 airline voucher when you could have held out for a free round trip ticket anywhere in the world.

Yes.
I don't really care, because even if someone fricks with my information, I'll never have the time, money, or energy to file a separate lawsuit against Equifax.

let us know how your court case goes against the company paying out $700m

This is way better than the free tuna fish I got in the Starkist class action.

quote:you say that as a joke, but I remember when it first came out they completely botched the website where you could find whether or not you were affected. They posted the wrong site on their own press release if I recall correctly. And people gave their info away.
shite. they just got my info for the next breach.
