re: Entergy seems perfectly fine with removing all ties with New Orleans

It's been well established the city council is a bunch of idiots. They aren't posting on this thread.
Understatement.
Where this will become a bigger problem for Entergy is the giant headache lawsuit that is being filed by a group of scumbag attorneys.
This is what these fricking morons are pushing. One, NOLA was hit last year by Laura & Delta and didn't have the catastrophic failure that Cat 4/5 Ida brought. And two, we live in a city where you hit water 2ft from the surface. Burying the utilities will be a nightmare and cost a shitload of money. Someone will have to pay for it but the consumers will throw a fit about that.

The statement argues that Entergy was not prepared to sustain “even a minor hurricane” and criticizes the company for not investing in underground power lines. Harang said they are seeking to have the company move its lines and infrastructure in Louisiana underground.

I suspect they would rather do this than pay for the rate increases that Cleco and Entergy lines the pockets of the PSC to get approved
I guess you believe Elvis and JFK are partying with aliens at Area 51 too.

It’s not just about rate increase . Let them know they will be without power for a few days while the line is upgraded and perfectly fine wood poles are replaced with steel .

Nah but I know several people in Mike Francis’ inner circle that I don’t believe have any reason to lie to me.

They do not want to answer to the city council. That's all this is.
You should not want the council making decisions on utility services because they're unqualified and they've blocked every attempt to improve electric service for decades.
Helena Moreno wants to be the mayor and everyone would do well to consider she may have a motive to exaggerate reality for her own interests. Also, she is part of the same council that blocked rebuilding the original New Orleans power station FOR 16 YEARS after it was destroyed in Katrina to pander to environmental whackos. The City had no ability whatsoever to generate its own power since Katrina and the same council demanded a much smaller, less efficient plant than Entergy's original proposal. Nice job Helena & Co!

Are you willing to wait for tens of thousands of steel poles to be produced to replace distribution or are you cool with a new wood pole and having your power back on in a few days?
Exactly.
But on the same note, entergy did install taller metal poles over the tangipahoa river on hwy 22. It was just a couple, but it was good to see them actually use this time to upgrade that part. Im sure they are doing it other places as well.

All transmission 69kV and above get replaced with steel or concrete poles. There was an instance in Laura that wood poles had to be installed due to material availability but they were some heavy duty wood poles.

I was an intern there 20 years ago in accounting. One of the guys in charge of interns told us that Entergy made no money on New Orleans. Nothing changed.

Meanwhile the city’s largest economic driver (The Dome) is on fire.
I see no way a NOLA run electric utility company could go wrong.

I dont know what these are, I figured the area was super marchy so they put in the taller metal poles to just get the lines up higher. Once they crossed the river/marsh they went back to wood.
But thats good to know.

This peach is way ripe for the greedy morons at city hall to let it slip from their greedy hands.
The city will take over and billions will be funnelled out to politicians. Rinse and repeat with every utility until it all completely collapses, its on the brink now.

City-Run Utility -- A municipalization of Entergy's assets by the City of New Orleans so the city can assume direct ownership and management of the electric and gas systems for customers. This would allow the city to have maximum control over customer rates and business operations,
It's bad enough having someone as F*CKING STUPID as Destroya running the City. Could you imagine this F*CKING MORON running a utility?
There would be at least 2 weeks of blackouts every month.
Yes, and I understand that "blackouts"....

The City Council is a bunch of idiots and Helena is just as dumb as the rest. They want their nice political perks like city paid cars and drivers and they do not want to actually be held accountable.
It is just stupid for the city to be against any power generation between the lake and the river. They should be building several smaller natural gas turbine plants in multiple locations.
As a Entergy Louisiana customer I do not want the two companies to merge. I would rather they abandon New Orleans. Sell their transmission lines to Helena if she wants them and leave.
Look the people there do not want reliable sewers, reliable water, reliable law enforcement, reliable trash pick or reliable electricity or for that matter white citizens.
There should be ZERO state subsidies of the city, the Saints or any state troopers patrolling the French Quarter. Let the City handle it all.
