The stories are just lazy filler with nothing new. Same as the five and ten year coverage.. The real story is the failure of New Orleans’ mayors and city councils who wasted over $120 billion in federal funds plus tons of public support. They promised a rebuilt city. Roads and buildings are STILL crumbling, crime is still bad, and the population is still 20% less than 2005 and falling. Schools have only 40% of kids reading well in 2024, and poverty is still at 25%.

And the leaders for this election are regurgitated versions of prior failures who did not even support the recall of the most arrogant and corrupt Mayor in our cities history..

At least the MRGO has been shuttered. That's a good thing.

The state was in charge of Road Home not the city.

Get your facts right if you are going to act like an expert.

The majority population of new orleans vote for this and want chaos. They would rather live in squalor than let whitey and the tourists fully enjoy the nice parts of the city.

Closing it had nothing to do with city leadership. MRGO was built after being proposed by the Dock Board of New Orleans and a lot of local contractors did well as it cost over a billion dollars to build and millions a year to maintain even though the development promised never happened and it only averaged two large container ships a day.

Katrina exposed as many problems as it caused.

I no longer watch anything about Katrina. It's almost as played out as 9/11. I respect the events that happened and the people involved, but there is nothing whatsoever I can still learn about these events and the nostalgia factor has been exhausted.

It's an important event for people to learn about, but nothing more for me to learn.

As terrible as Katrina was, Teedy was almost as destructive. Wonder if she is going to crawl out from under her rock for the 20th anniversary.

Road Home was 9 billion dollars of the over 100 billion dollars spent. And I agree the state was as incompetent as the city with things like the Fema trailers.

Your 100 billion number is for the entire Katrina/Rita gulf coast response.

So you are just using your own facts at this point

I laugh when they say how resilient "the victims" are then say how some areas are still struggling to recover 20 years later. That doesn't sound very resilient.

We know. But it was still a good thing that finally only ever happened after Katrina.

No amount of money can overcome the demographics of the city. The only chance Nola had was to somehow not help its population return.
