If you are doing transportation or infrastructure work for a small firm I would not worry about a drug test. Most of these guys are probably mech/elec/struc engineers that have to access secure facilities.

Drink a lot of grapefruit juice.
Avoid fatty foods.
Workout a lot (cardio).
Wait 30 days.

All good.

The size of your firm doesn't matter if you do work for clients that require you to take a DISA drug test.

For a professional position it is really unlikely. Unless they suspect you of use and want to nail you.

Only heard of follicles being pulled once and that was trying to take a whole department down...they did.

Mine did. Just a local piss test though. When I go out to sites, like a power plant or the like, they test you as well to get a badge.

Nope. And it isn't even legal for them to do so. In fact, if they threaten to, let them know that they have no right to do so.

Half the department getting follicle tested threatened lawsuits because they said it was illegal.

Guess they couldn't afford a lawyer without the jobs.

I don't understand how it could be illegal if they provide consent to test...

Just a heads up to the OP, not that it matters, since it seems the OP is more interested in continuing his habit than staying employed...

The engineering firms in BTR (if you are talking about BTR, but this goes for most areas outside a major metro area) are fairly close knit. If you are shown the door for failing a drug test, most every firm is going to know, so the prospective of a career in the same area after failing a drug test will be slim.

Further, a state's licensure board is not going to look too fondly on a failed drug test. It's hard enough to get a job in this current climate, lose your EI or your PE, and see how much harder it will be to find gainful engineering employment.

I sincerely appreciate your response danimal... It really provided a fresh and unique perspective on the topic of discussion. I didn't realize I was currently unemployed. I guess you learn new things about yourself everyday.

I know of some small engineering firms in BTR that don't drug test.

It depends on the field. O&G for sure to get a twic card. I'm a general civil and have worked for multiple firms and have never even thought about a drug test.

This sounds about right to me.

Yes and some of their clients will also test you on specific jobs.
