I agree. Too much bs in this thread. If he really saved $200 per month, then he had over 500 incandescent lamps.

a 60 watt bulb cost less than $3/month if you leave it on 24/7. I can't imagine you leave all your lights on 24/7, or even for 12 hours out of the day, but assuming 12 hours a day, that would mean you have about a 130 light bulbs in your house that you leave on for 12 hours every day.
I find that hard to believe.

I bought several cfl bulbs that crapped out within a month or two. I bought some GE bulbs (4pack) and not one lasted longer than 5 months. GE gave me another 4pack and none lasted longer than 4 months

You either have some electrical issues or you are turning them on and off dozens of times per day.

That's less than the Home Depot price by a couple bucks a bulb. I keep reading that Cree has an exclusive relationship with Home Depot; anyone know if this has changed?

If I ripped out my electric HVAC my electric bill wouldn't drop by $200/month.

The only time my house is over $200 a month is in the summer when we're running both A/C units a ton. It his like $296 last August. Not a huge place, around 2,500 Sq Ft, but there's no way some light bulbs would make that kind of difference. Maybe in an office building if you had like 10 floors of offices with old incandescant lights and switched to LEDs.

They are good lamps, but at 5000K they are going to have more of a florescent color to them than incandescent. Cree is a leader in LED lighting.

I'm converting everything at my house to LED lighting. Tired of changing out the cheap arse CFLs and incandescents.

I pay about $0.08 per KWH of electric usage.

100W light bulb on for 10 hours = 1 KWH = $0.08.

You gotta have a bunch of lights on to have any significant impact to your electric bill.

motherfricking this!!! i swear these things dont last any longer than a regular bulb and its too much hassle to take them back as a warranty item.

I have been switching every bulb in my work place to cree 65/75 watt bulbs. They are expensive but worth it in the long run. We have the lights on 15-18 hours a day there and change them out nowhere near as much as we did incandescent. That alone has been well worth it. They produce much less heat which can help with your A/C bill. Maybe only in cases like mine where we have about 75 bulbs on.

They work with standard dimmers as well.

Not very well. Your dimming range seems to be very limited. That or I might need to change out my switches.
