I’ve quite literally never had a good experience with using workers in India.
I’ve had good experience with coders….if you can overcome the work hours difference. I probably wouldn’t hit any PMs or Leads offshore. But I’ve had good experience with line level coders. The better the requirements and expectations the better they are.

As somebody who lives in Texas…. Hell no it’s not worth it!!!

1. The talent in India is equivalent to American talent.
2. Indians aren’t entitled.
3. Indians work hard.
4. Indians have more realistic salary and career expectations.
I work in tech industry and this couldn't be further from the truth. I mean quite literally the opposite of what you said is the truth.
1. 90% of them are awful and honestly quite dumb. They don’t work hard and can complete grunt work but if they have to use their brain or ask for help they are useless.
2. They are absolutely as entitled or more than anyone else as a whole this is so untrue.
3. The laziest sons of bitches I’ve ever been around. Literally the laziest.
4. Complete BS
Where are you even getting this information?

I attended and worked at different universities over the years and know firsthand that STEM graduate programs have been filled with foreign students for 3-4 decades. The US would have fallen way behind without being able to draw talent from around the world that stayed here and generated a massive amount of wealth for America.
Counterpoint: The ROI for graduate degrees in engineering kind of sucks.
This data is about 15 years old, but a study by the National Society of Professional Engineers found the following:
- Entry level engineers with a bachelor’s degree earned a median of $54,225.
- Entry level engineers with a master’s degree earned a median of $58,500.
- Entry level engineers with a doctorate earned median of $79,500.
- Engineers with 2 years’ experience and a bachelor’s degree earned a median of $57,000.
- Engineers with 2 years’ experience and a master’s degree earned a median of $60,690.
- Engineers with 2 years’ experience and a doctorate earned a median of $78,125.
When you consider that you’re also forgoing:
- 1-2 years of work experience/earnings for a master’s
- 3-5 more years of work experience/earnings for a doctorate
…plus the actual cost of the degree (which is substantial, particularly when you consider that TOPS or equivalent aren’t paying for it), I don’t think it’s shocking that Americans engineering undergrads are entering the workforce rather than going to grad school. You’re generally better off getting started in your career, particularly if you put those years of work experience toward a PE license.
So the question becomes… why isn’t there more financial incentive for Americans to get advanced degrees in engineering? If there were a shortage you would think those salaries would be higher; especially when you’re theoretically talking about the best and brightest. Is it possible that the market for master’s and PhD engineers is saturated because of the number of foreign graduate students?
I can’t really speak to other STEM fields. Obviously advanced degrees in the medical field are quite valuable. Other sciences like chemistry and biology are rough without a graduate degree, but most of the “best and brightest” in those programs are pre-med anyway.

a tech company can pay an H1B from India $20k to do what most developers here would for $100k,
You know H1B salaries are published right? The difference is no where near this high.

It's simultaneously hilarious and sad watching the MAGA-morons realize the rug is already being pulled underneath them...again. Fool me once, shame on you... I mean, how gullible can people be?
and the ending results after 4 years will still be better than a continuation of the Biden/Harris administration who you voted for, EarlyCuyler.

I’m not sure why you think Americans are the only people that can write good code.
If you could get what you needed from remote indians at 10% of the cost, you would.
You don’t, because you can’t. Anything else is a lie.

Having worked with offshore teams in basically every job I've had since 2015, this is not the case. Offshore teams SUCK. I always have to clean up their mess.
At my current job I had to deal with them when I first started... they couldn't even do basic tasks. I don't even bother with them anymore. Execs from my current company always having to travel to India to give the offshore team "a talking to" and tell them to step up their game.

He's got to be in the bean counter world.
I'm still waiting for someone to tell me some project that couldn't have been accomplished without the venerable H1Bs.

My brother supervises a team from Eastern Europe at probably 30% of the cost. He says they are pretty good.

What I said isn't counter to your response.
He is trying to paint a rosy picture that his company is hiring H1Bs out of the goodness of their hearts to keep jobs in "america" instead of offshoring.
His company would offshore tomorrow if the remote indian teams didn't SUCK.

It's amazing how the leftist only have small insignificant things to latch on to with, "see, we told you, OMB!"
Guess what. If the talent pool isn't there then 2 things will happen. H1b or more people will see the large opportunity while in college and we will start to fill the gaps. Industry doesn't wait to grow because too many Americans are wanting shitty liberal arts degrees that don't have any true value in the real world.

There have been hundreds of thousands of tech layoffs the past 12 months... which doesn't jive with this supposed labor shortage you claim exists.
How is Intel laying off 15,000 if there is such a big labor shortage?

The brainwashed don't like being told they're brainwashed. It doesn't negate the fact that it is reality, no matter how many follow you around or hurl juvenile insults around.
