Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know the entirety of their motivations. However there are very real benefits that straight couples enjoy because of marriage. It clearly isn't just semantics or just a word. There are life, health, and estate responsibilities that were off limits for gay couples until recently. This is a real effect on their lives that goes beyond some need for acceptance.

Do I at least receive some kind of plaque? I recognize the idea of God, I just happen to know how silly it all is. I quit believing in fairy tales a long time ago. I choose to take responsibility for my own life, both my failures and my accomplishments. No man in the sky did it for me. It honestly amazes me that so many conservatives who subscribe to the "pick yourself up by the boot straps" mentality are so willing to then turn around and give all credit to God for what they have accomplished in their life. If that works for you, great...I guess.

I'm more concerned that it isn't ok for Jenner to have that opinion in her eyes. You don't necessarily have to abide by a certain doctrine because everyone else expects you to.
