What is rational about all of these justifications for infidelity
Hence my statement of expecting a rational response on the OT.

quote:that type of info is very pertinent to the original post. What does a long-term relationship mean to anyone? I would say that it is mainly trust and understanding.
You’re just spouting off commonly used vows and what marriage means to you with zero knowledge of how the OPs parents feel/felt about this kind of stuff.

The OP is asking whether he should get involved to protect his dad and to what degree.

Sure an irrevocable trust would be the most beneficial to the OP but good luck convincing someone to irrevocably putting their money into a trust. From my experience, boomers are not to keen on giving away their money before death.
If it's a completely separate property regime via a prenup she would not have access to his money to spend it

That’s not the whole of it - the grantor doesn’t have to loose access to the money - certain parameters are determined as such would require both the grantor and the beneficiaries approval. Most importantly heirs cannot be changed without their permission. Depending on the family dynamics, it could. be a no go, but it is the safest option + there are a host of tax benefits. OP should check into it.
I had to sit back and watch my Dad burn through a hell of a lot of money in his later years. When he got sick the women and most of his money were long gone.

Should I hire a PI on this bitch?
I would probably meet her first and get a gut reaction to her before hiring the PI.
Either way, this just makes me incredibly sad for your dad. I can't imagine ever having to make the choice about whether to date or not while my wife was still alive. It sounds like he's got a good son looking out for him though

Did she get a big payday?
No idea, but doubtful based on the way she lives. She got some retirement money from him from what I can tell though. She’s good friends with her late husbands children too so I guess they had no problem with it either.
