Effort vs Potential in Life

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
...the race isnt given to the swift or the strong, but the one who endureth to the end.
Two sayings that I grew up with.
I know someone who went to LSMSA in
Natchitoches. Very smart girl. I figured she'd become some type of medical doctor or professor, etc.
In the end, she is only a public high school teacher ( and not a high ranking one).
I just cant comprehend why someone that smart would have relatively simplistic goals. Do you know anyone like this? Do you know what their reasons are?
Is the amount of effort and hard work a more direct correlation to career success? Or is it natural potential?

Those who can't do, teach.
Those who can't teach. Teach gym.
Those who can't do anything, bitch about other's failed potential on TD.

I've never tried hard and now I manage a Pizza Hut Xpress. So I disagree

Do you get free pizza?
If so, YOU WIN.

Not in Louisiana my friend.
Better off welding for that much.
Nothing wrong with it. I personally don't think it should comprise half of your educated workforce.
To each his own.

Kinda harsh volod.

If it makes her happy then who cares. The world needs smart teachers, especially Louisiana. Just because someone is smart doesn't mean they have the drive and ambition to do anything with it.

Technically, it doesn't matter. And i really like your perspective on it.
I think people make assumptions in life based on surface level facts, when life is so much deeper than that.

I saw both. Which did you choose? Burger flipping or fries?

Something I struggle with everyday. Im not married, nor do I have kids. Pretty close to making the call on accepting it's not in my cards. Other than working to do things I enjoy doing, which I make enough to do, I'm starting to not really care. Everyones goals are different.

Ohhh and I wouldnt always agree with this. Really depends on the needs/wants of the people judging this. I've worked my arse off for companies, included my natural talent, and just have had mgrs that dont recognize it and/or get intimidated by it. Really does need to match up just right regardless.

Agreed. Some places get so assured of themselves they drive off their veteran talent. Then they get mad when they cant find someone to replace them.

? Maybe that's what she wants to do? Not everyone is wired the same. Success is relative
That's true. The point is that she had alot of potential (at least by LA society standards). Yes, you could easily say she used it to do what she wanted. It's just that literally anyone could do that (all you need is a BS).
