And, who names their kid Tyrrevius. What are you trying to prove by doing that?

That the child can spell it, preferably in under one year.

I don't even know what racist means anymore, it's thrown around so much. Completely saturated to a point where it means nothing.

This person was stereotypical, but racist? Does she hate black people? Does she see black people and think they all need to be returned to Africa?

People use stereotypes for every color, every religion, every culture....EVERYTHING. Doesn't exactly mean I hate them.

That is true.

Calling a black person a gorilla is definitely a racist comment.

These things are not the best indicators of racism, they are examples of extreme racism and racial separatism. The simple belief that people of another race are in some way inferior simply because of their race or that your own race is somehow superior than other races are the most common form of racism. Those may not involve hate or even separatism.

But to your original point, it is true that the overuse of the term racism waters down the meaning of the term and creates problems in dealing with legitimate racial issues.

It is in the nature of human beings to gravitate toward things that they are comfortable with, including people who look and think like we do. At times, that gives the appearance of racism when there really is no intentional racism.

Pointing out someone's race or comparing a person to an animal isn't racist. Making fun of a person's name is also not racist. If she had said that Michelle Obama looks like an armadillo would you still be screaming racism? The good news is the word has lost all meaning and is laughter inducing.

Needs to be fired.

Teachers are in charge of shaping youth's minds.
That was uncalled for and irresponsible.

I thought parents were "in charge", silly me. Educators should stick to educating, let the guardians do the shaping (guardians since parents are in short supply).
