Educate me on Garage Door Openers

I am in need of a new garage door opener. I know the one I have is .05HP and is chain driven. I have 2 remotes and one indoor button I can push for lights and to open the door.
So I start looking online, there are types with different HP, belt driven, etc.
My question is mainly about the belt driven types. Mine is old, and barely works anymore. It's loud as hell when being used. I have read that the belt driven types are quieter.
Is it going to be a headache to change from chain to belt types, or is it just different connection points to hook to the door?
Are chain types or belt types better?
Some have apps to control with your phone. Do you have to pay a subscription to use the feature?
If i got a larger HP opener, say 1 or 1.5, would that be too much and kill my door?
any advice is appreciated.
I have also considered hiring a poor person to just hang out at my house and manually open and close the door for me. Broke OT'rs you can apply here.

My chain driven motor shite the bed. I paid for a quite genie belt drive and paid under $500 total. They demoed the motor and chain drive and added new motor and belt. Much quieter operation. Add WD40 to the hinges on the door and you would be shocked how much that helps.

Just replaced my doors and openers. Belt driven are way quieter. I also HIGHLY recommend paying the additional money for a wifi enabled opener. It wasn't much extra and I don't know what we'd do without it. I may or may not have my garage door remote, but I ALWAYS have my phone.

I bought a Craftsman 1Hp belt drive Opener and could not be happier. Very quiet
It essentially is a rebranded Chamberlain opener but includes all of the connectivity accessories you'd have to buy separately if you bought straight from Chamberlain
The app is very easy to use
Incredibly easy to set up after watching a youtube video
$189 on sears.com

we have a belt, cost a bit more.
two remotes
no wifi capability
works fine, keep the garage door pieces well lubricated - not the belt nor its components, though
believe we have a lifetime warranty on parts

I just installed a .5 HP Chamberlain belt drive with help from some friends. It was $189 at Menards. Much quieter than my old chain drive. Has a option to use your phone, but I haven't looked into that yet.

I do this regularly, but I do the rails. Maybe I need to do all the joints on the door.

Is this a good brand. I have looked online at sears, home depot and lowes and I see this brand but have never heard of them.
I currently have a craftsman.

Then that would explain why I have to do it more often than I thought I should. Thanks.

Correct, is what our door guy suggested as well
use a spray product he left us, once a month, quick and easy and is what he used during service call

I just did this exact thing a few months ago.
Ridiculously quieter. Like, before if you were home alone and the garage door sound was your alert that someone was home (for example if you were jerking off) that's no longer viable.
You should be able to use the existing holes and maybe support brackets for the motor unit. It's a task but not as overwhelming as it seems if you're decent at DIY stuff.
I had my concerns. As I've only had it a short time I can speak to longevity but seems solid and strong.
No idea, don't need.
Pretty sure it wouldn't.
I got a Genie one from Lowe's. The instructions and installation process is probably the best explained and organized a thing that I have ever seen and I do these kind of projects a lot.

Larger HP won't hurt the door, but you may be wasting money on something you don't need.
Go with belt driven.
Also, for quieter operation have nylon rollers installed on the door rather than metal.
As said before, WD40 is not a lubricant.

I have belt drive, pretty quiet, but mine is a 1hp, not sure if they make belt drives in .5.

I bought the Chamberlain belt drive at HD and paid someone $150 to install and remove the old chain drive Genie that died. I didn't get the wifi but I can see where it would be handy. I keep my truck in the driveway so I don't leave a garage door opener in it. But we have the outdoor keypad, so I can just walk up and open it.
The belt drive plus WD40 on all of the hinge points and wheels of the garage door makes all the difference on noise.

Easily the best. Go belt drive, thank me later.
