Seems a little disingenuous, considering he absolutely bought that billboard to get his campaign noticed.

That said, it's pretty funny.

I went to a GOP luncheon a few weeks ago where he was introduced as a candidate and he definitely made references to these PI attorneys and their billboards as well as ending these legacy lawsuits.

The President of the Louisiana Oil and Gas Association was asked multiple times in a deposition back in 2014 if the legacy lawsuits affected or drove away business and couldn't come up with a single example

LINK

If that is Risponse's number one platform, he really isn't interested in doing anything that'll last. Just like Jindal was only interested with tinkering taxes and tax breaks enough to earn As from think tanks.

We need a constitutional convention to re-write the tax code, fix our bidding system, etc. Anything less is window dressing.

Did he elaborate on how he wanted to bring about tort reform?

The obvious example is to lower jury threshold

In the end, the New Orleans company did find oil almost three miles beneath the earth's surface at its drill site northeast of Mandeville. There just wasn't enough of it to make the venture commercially worthwhile, Helis spokesman Greg Beuerman said. What Helis had hoped to find was enough oil that could be pulled out of the ground over a long period. "This particular lease did not hold those qualities," Beuerman said. So Helis decided to pull the plug rather than spend what Beuerman said would be another $8 million to $8.5 million to bring the well to production.

NIMBY lawsuits =/= legacy lawsuits

Meh, just a bunch of rambling. There were other rebublican state reps there as well rambling on.

I don’t really care if he wins or Abraham. As long as someone beats JBE

I would say that the majority of the republican members (that are lawyers) of the Louisiana state legislator are tort lawyers. He can campaign on that all day long and even win the race. I don't think much is changing regarding tort practice in Louisiana. Also if he is suggesting the tort issues present in Louisiana are the result solely of tort lawyers then he is wrong.

ETA: I'm still voting for him or anyone with a pulse over honor code.

Would be a good thread idea to see how people would actually reform the system

I'd offer a two year prescription period in exchange for substantially lowering the jury threshold.

Maybe have plaintiffs submit to polygraph test before being able to file suit.
