I highly doubt that.

Why? That's pretty much SOP for high profile killers these days.

Where do the big veteran supporters stand here? A vet killed another vet, with the defense claiming insanity and ptsd. Seems tricky. You want justice for Kyle on one hand, but ptsd and the trauma of duty is real and has a profound effect on some people.

Contrary to popular belief, guys with ptsd do more harm to themselves than to others. You get the occasional nightmare and whatnot where you might attack somebody in your bed sleeping with you, but generally speaking you just want to kill yourself.

It also doesn't help his ptsd claims when doctors said he doesn't have it and is diagnosed as a paranoid schizophreniac.

He's high profile right now due mostly to the movie. In a year, you could mention his name to 95% of americans and they would have no idea who he is.

I think it had something to do with the insanity plea... I'm not entirely sure though.

Everything I've seen said he was an Iraq war veteran.
He was a veteran of the Iraq war, yes. He was a goddamn armorer. He sat in a locked up building in and out checking weapons and ammo for people leaving the wire.

That's no different than the tons of other guys spending life in protective custody.

It also doesn't help that he was potentially high (which I believe disqualifies the insanity plea, or severely hinders it) and he admitted he knew what he did was wrong.

But he was clearly fricked in the head, and by all accounts, it started after he returned from duty. Of course, those accounts were from friends and family, so who knows.

I think he was found to be both high and drunk- now, what level of drunk, I don't know.

I was an armorer for a while. Still the chillest job I've ever had.

There was an article posted on This Ain't Hell last week or so about him, I'll see if I can dig it up.

The general consensus from the article was that the dude was fricked from jump Street though. I think his recruiter was even relieved of his duties bc he was caught forging shite to get recruits cleared.

Plenty of people and especially vets are dealing with PTSD. It's not an excuse for murder.

frick Ray Routh.
