Lee was a polite guy and he's dead and all but if he could come back and you could get a coupla pops in him I bet he'd say "Take my name off that pile of shite. It isn't worthy to carry it."

I don't care about the name. If they want to change the name from Lee High to something else, they can go ahead and do that. But this bullshite
is just that, bullshite.
If she would say something along the lines of "given the events around the country over the last year or so, I think it's an appropriate time to change the name" I would respect that, even though I don't agree with her. Putting on a show and acting like this is some huge issue all of the sudden, when it wasn't even a minor issue for years and years, is completely disingenuous and the main reason I oppose this shite. Not because of the result, but because of they way people try to reach the result.

None of the people in favor of changing the name even live in the district of Lee high school. It's the same old people that want to create as much friction as possible between whites and blacks.

I like it, and my father would have loved it, but there are a couple of problems with that idea...
1) He's white.
2) He was an American Air Pirate, who bombed innocent women and children in his F-105.
3) He was disrespectful to his Asian captors while being caged and tortured.
4) He played football for Tulane.
My father was AF and Murphy Neal Jones was a legend during my childhood. I was recently in the local VA office and his name came up (he apparently lives in the Covington area these days) in the waiting room. I was happy to hear that he is alive and kicking!
