There's some extremely bad areas in close proximity to good areas in BR. A block or two is the difference between half million dollar houses and trap houses.

I've had so many friends family's move out to prarieville/Baker/LP it's crazy. It seems everyone is getting out of the working class neighborhoods while they can get anything for their home

We moved to Central after living in BR for almost 20 years. People make fun of Central/DS but it's nice to go places and not feel like you have to watch your back or worry about someone breaking into your house.

If this shite would've happened somewhere in metro Va or in Maine people would've gone bonkers

Everywhere has some problems, but Baton Rouge doesn't have that suburban feel at all. Nice stuff, next to bad stuff and so on.

I agree but it's space, you're essentially talking about the two sides of college Dr and a few more areas, but that seems to be the norm in s. La these days

Central has gotten worse since it started its expansion and incorporation. Used to be a place you could leave your doors unlocked and never be bothered. Then an unsavory element moved into some of the low income houses/apartments or started making the drive down hooper/joor and started hitting a bunch of houses in the neighborhoods.

Nothing that is being talked about in this thread is remotely funny, but if you expect the current mayor to have an inkling of a fricking clue of how to make this better then you will be sorely disappointed.

Sounds like they're scrambling the police chopper(s) headed towards the scene.
