Baton Rouge will get an itty bitty bit of wind and rain, and EBRPSS is going to close early.

State offices to for that matter.

I just hate how wimpy our society has become. Never would have happened in 1980, 1990 or 2000 for that matter.

Bro, do you know how dangerous 15 mph winds can be?

This is about saving lives. We should be shutting the whole parish down, not just schools.

This hurricane will amplify the effects of Covid as it is an airborne virus. Everyone should shelter in place through the weekend

At least u got a half a day. I have to work today then cram 8 hours of school into three hours of “virtual learning” that somehow is mandatory.

I don't know why people can't understand 99.9% of the time it has to do with risk assessment and avoiding potential litigation.

No they don’t. They shut down schools if there is a potential for ice or snow or if the school doesn’t have adequate heating.

School got shut down last winter or the winter before for being too cold. The reasoning was that it was too cold for kids to wait for the bus. No snow or ice in the forecast.

We haven’t had a cold winter in a few years so I’m calling false on that.

Blame it on trial lawyers and their frivolous lawsuits.

And if they do nothing and something bad actually happens you would be the first one here bitching that they didn't do something.

Nah, I’m good.

Just look at the facts...that’s all. There is a cat 1 hurricane hitting NOLA. We are in the west side of if.

My risk assessment process is to look at the hourly forecast on the WAFB app. At 8:00 this morning it said the strongest winds would be 17MPH during the 3:00 hour. I told my wife we didn't have to pick up anything outside. Currently it has the highest winds at 14MPH for a few hours tonight.
