However, trying to make a point about what else they could be doing with their time other than issuing DWIs is stupid.

Well, to be honest, I delivered pizza in the red area for years and never had any problems with drunk drivers. I delivered for about 7 years in that area and never had a single accident, in fact. In that 7 years I worked with people who spent their entire day (and night) on the road at even during the bar closing hours. Yet, we never lost a driver to an accident with a drunk driver. We did have problems with getting robbed. Especially in that area near Gardere and just north of campus...and on campus. So, I'd prefer them patrol and maybe pull over people breaking traffic laws over setting up a check point and annoying the frick out of me.

Autonomous cars can't get here soon enough. Drunk, no problem...hit auto drive and sleep on the way home. Not sure how some boys in blue will make 100K a year violating peoples liberty, but I'm sure they'll find a way. I appreciate the work most officers do, but I'm not a fan of Soviet style check points.

Can you post the "police presence" map for 2012-2016? Better yet, post the map of where Dominos delivers & won't deliver.

Can we talk about how shitty heat maps are at representing data?

they are pretty terrible. This one is particularly bad there is not even a index other than red=bad

In the 15 months since Uber entered the Baton Rouge market, DUI arrests have decreased nearly 18% in the city of Baton Rouge, according to Metro Councilmember Ryan Heck, who gathered the data from the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Between August 2014—the month Uber’s ride-sharing app became available in Baton Rouge—and August of this year, Baton Rouge Police made 893 DUI arrests. That’s 17.8% fewer than the 1,087 they made during the same period the previous year.

I used to walk there to get food after the bars closed, drunk of course, and they were always fricking with me. After a while, they just fricked with me for the hell of it
